Communications and Social Media Intern, Children and Young People

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Communications and Social Media Intern, Children and Young People to support the Act4Food Act4Change team to maintain and update their social media channels. This position will be based in the GAIN India office in New Delhi, India and is offered on a 6 months’ fixed-term contract basis.

About GAIN

GAIN is a Swiss-based foundation launched at the UN in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving the consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition.

Children and Young People is one of GAIN’s core programmes focused on shaping food systems to protect and respond to the needs of children and young people as they grow and evolve. We use participatory and human centric approaches to keep children, young people and their families are the core of our work.

About the role

Reporting to the Youth Campaigns Coordinator, the intern will support the Act4Food Act4Change team with communications specifically focusing on social media channels such as Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter and the upkeep of the Act4Food Act4Change website.

You will be working on the youth led campaign, Act4Food Act4Change and will be expected to work with young people and create content for this audience in relation to food systems for social media channels and website.

Role specifics include;

• Supporting the Act4Food Act4Change campaign coordinator to regularly update social media content and the website
• Working with the Communications team to disseminate content (media stories, reports lessons learned, case studies) for Act4Food Act4Change
• Updating and following a social media plan for all social media channels
• Coordinating with youth leaders to ensure they are represented on the social media channels and website and their stories are showcased appropriately
• Supporting administrative tasks and maintenance of website on behalf of the programme

About you

The ideal candidate should have excellent ability to use social media tools (e.g. LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook). You will have the ability to create social media plans and execute them across different networks.

The postholder should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be fluent in written and spoken English. Knowledge in another language is an asset but not essential. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic, international organisation.

A Bachelors’ degree or currently studying in Communications, Food Science / Nutrition and International Development or related field is desirable. Experience in developing creative content and ability to manage a website in WordPress would be an asset.

• This remuneration for this internship will be up to $170 per month, on a 100% full-time working basis.
