Reporting to the Senior Director for Programme Development, Resource Mobilisation, and Learning, this position will play a key role in helping to build overall programme development capacity in the organisation. The Director of Programme Development will lead the process of developing strong designs that are built on holistic development approaches and standards. The position will provide technical support and build capacity for both BRAC Bangladesh and BRAC International in designing quality programme interventions for funding, be consistent with BRAC Global Strategy, and reflect on organisational learning.
The Director of Programme Development will be responsible for ensuring planning and programme design work, quality and competitive grant proposals, as well as providing guidance for programme/project approval procedures and assessing the overall performance of the programme development team.
- Familiarity with Human Centred Design Approach; Project Life Cycle; Project Management tools.
- Familiarity with key donor requirements (e.g. USAID, EU, UN, the World Bank, etc.) for quality proposal development.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage change in complex organisations.
- Ability to work virtually in a global environment.
- Track record of successful proposal and programme designing for international development organisations.
- Ability to operate fluently in English.
- High proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Project, MS Visio), Cloud Computing (Google Drive and Dropbox), and Adobe package.
- Ability to travel 30% of the time.
The Director of Programme Development must have progressively responsible experience in an international business environment that includes leading roles in programme design and development, donor proposal development, and management experience of a diverse workforce, including effective performance management and utilisation of capacity building, coaching, and mentoring skills.
The candidate must have a graduate degree in International Business, Management, International Development, Economics or any other relevant field.
Negotiable. Preference for candidates who can be based close to BRAC’s offices in New York, London, the Hague, or Nairobi.
