What is DPMI?
TheMiddlebury Institute if International Studies at Monterey (MIIS)offers an immersive professional certificate training for development practitioners, career-changers, graduate students, with consideration given to gifted undergraduate students.
This certificate program is designed to help development and social change practitioners bolster critical skills and expand career opportunities inprogram design, partnering, management, and innovation (DPMI). You’ll gain exposure to real-world case studies and, in some cases, client projects, as well as entry to a global network of over 1,500 global DPMI alumni tackling the world’s most pressing problems.
DPMI’s cross-sector approach leverages best practices from the development field and concepts drawn from the private sector. You will learn ground-breaking and ‘tried and true’ tools to solve problems, motivate stakeholders, and establish partnerships.
Program modules include:
(1) Designing and Managing Development Projects:Learn to design and assess projects that foster sustainable development. Simulations and case study exercises familiarize students with project development approaches widely used in bilateral and multinational organizations including USAID, the World Bank, and UNDP.
(2) Social Entrepreneurship and Strategic Partnering:Use the tools and techniques of network analysis, strategic partnering, and social entrepreneurship to plan innovative solutions to major development challenges.
(3) Facilitating Participatory Development:Learn the roles of facilitator, trainer, and change agent to transfer skills to communities so they can conduct their own training programs.
Summer 2019 Training – Washington D.C.: June 2-7 (one week)

Program Fee: $2,000 for all participants Shared lodging for ~$60/night may be available, upon request (Program fees do not include Lodging, food, airfare, visa fees, or other travel costs).
