Investigating Youth Attitudes Towards Political Participation and the Underlying Factors Survey in the Philippines
Background
To enhance outreach among youth in Asia and improve the design and implementation of programs that engage youth in civic and political processes in their countries, the International Republican Institute (IRI), will implement a program that uses survey data and predictive analytics to investigate youth attitudes towards political participation and the underlying factors that affect these sentiments. IRI will leverage the data to develop strategies and recommendations for youth program design, interventions and approaches based on the unique demographic typologies of politically passive youth identified through the survey.
Objectives of the Research
Public opinion data shall be obtained through a survey of the Philippines that is designed to obtain the most accurate possible information about:
- (a) How youth (between the ages of 18 and 35) in the Philippines engage and think about the effectiveness of democratic institutions within their country,
- (b) How do the youth (between the ages of 18 and 35) view their governments performance.
It is IRI’s preference that data collection for this survey is conducted through face-to-face interviews (PAPI/CAPI). Should this be impossible or inadvisable, IRI will accept proposals for phone interviews (CATI.)
