Purpose of the Role:

The Technical Advisor in Adolescent and Youth Health is responsible for supporting the Momentum Country and Global Learning (MCGL) project funded by USAID in Côte d’Ivoire. USAID’s MCGL project is a global program that aims to help the Ivorian government effectively deliver quality essential maternal, newborn, child, and family planning services in Côte d’Ivoire.

The Adolescent and Youth Health Technical Advisor leads the development, implementation and monitoring of all adolescent and youth health interventions and activities under the MCGL project in Côte d’Ivoire. Particular emphasis will be placed on conducting community activities on demand, and improving the quality and responsiveness of services for adolescents, reproductive, maternal, neonatal health and family planning. This is to increase access to health services for adolescents, especially teenage mothers and young first-time parents.

This program will also engage adolescents and their families through ongoing community engagement activities and use innovative methods to document programmatic challenges and lessons learned.

He/she will be indirectly supported by the Senior Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) Specialist based at Save the Children HQ, for technical issues related to adolescent health.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Postgraduate degree/Masters in Public Health or Social Sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the successful implementation of an adolescent and youth health program, including Family Planning.
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluation, efficient analysis of data and situations to make or guide programmatic decisions.
  • Previous experience within USAID programs and with key multilateral agencies, bilateral donors, academic institutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-faceted health development agenda, in collaboration with Ministry of Health staff and local and international partners.
  • Familiarity with adolescent and youth health, and Family Planning programs and policies in Côte d’Ivoire.
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and supervision for the strengthening of health and Family Planning services, with a focus on adolescents and young people; training and use of quality improvement approaches.
  • Familiarity with adolescent health interventions, based on evidence and best practices at the center of this project.
  • Fluency in French (oral and written) required. English is an asset.

Duration of contract: 12 months renewable
