WHAT DO WE DO …

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI)is an international humanitarian aid association which, for nearly 40 years, has been helping people who are victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs, food, drink and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases related to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and the promotion hygiene but also in that, essential, of food security and means of existence. Present in around twenty countries, the SI teams – 2,000 people in total made up of expatriates, national employees, permanent staff at headquarters, volunteers, etc. – operate with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Emergency Desk aims to support SI’s response capacity in acute crisis contexts, through 3 main methods:

  • The direct response in the event of a natural disaster or a sudden high-intensity crisis
  • Monitoring and opening of missions on acute crises
  • Support to existing IS missions to anticipate and react to sudden crises in their area of ​​intervention

To meet this substantial, constant and rotating need, the SI Emergency Desk has set up various mobilization mechanisms, including the Emergency Response Team (ERT).

The ERT is a team of headquarters experts, deployed on emergency and opening sites for 60/70% of their working time, and involved in IS emergency response improvement files. up to 30/40%.

Reporting directly to the Emergency Desk Manager, the ERT is the direct extension of SI’s emergency response strategy in the field. The ERT is now made up of 5 employees (Country Director, EHA coordinator, logistics coordinator, administrative coordinator, field coordinator).

Through 4 essential pillars of the position: Relevance and operational quality, Coordination and strategic orientation, Resource management, Human resources management, Security and fundraising, The Field Coordinator (non-exhaustive list):

  • Represents the country director by delegation in a region of a country in which Solidarités International operates.
  • Proposes the regional strategy according to the geopolitical and humanitarian context and ensures its implementation once validated.
  • Controls and guarantees that projects are carried out in accordance with the Solidarités International charter and in compliance with internal and contractual procedures.
  • Mobilizes the material and financial resources necessary for the proper conduct of the programs and supervises their management.
  • Coordinates the teams in place and is the guarantor of their safety in his assigned area.
  • Is the direct and privileged interlocutor of the DP.

YOUR PROFILE

Specific skills/experience required:

  • Training : Any generalist training with a strong sensitivity to the analysis of the context is welcome.
  • Experience(s): At least two years of experience as a manager in humanitarian environments, in particular as a Field Coordinator
  • Significant management experience, especially of international staff, is required.
  • Experience in building the capacity of teams;
  • Skills in humanitarian analysis and external representation
  • Experience managing security in a complex environment
  • Mastery of the pack Office.
  • Ability to work in a team, pedagogue, conscientious and good practical sense.

  • Adaptability and resistance to stress.
  • Great sense of diplomacy
  • Proficiency in written and oral Spanish

Language: Excellent command of French and English, written and spoken.

IF YOU WILL OFFER THE FOLLOWING TERMS

  • Type of contract : CDD, executive status – 18 months
  • Expatriate contract calculated on the basis of the expatriate salary grid.
  • Gross salary from 2,600 euros/month, excluding NGO experience
  • Leave : 2.0833 CP / month; recovery of one day per weekend spent in the field
  • Health/provident insurance and repatriation (100% covered)
  • Considerations for relocating non-deployment working time (30%) outside the IS headquarters (home) are negotiable
