Development Specialist

Job Overview: The Development Specialist is a member of the DevComms team and works closely with the Development Coordinator and Community Relations Officer to support IRC’s programming in New York and New Jersey by implementing community outreach and grant-related activities. They support business development to expand community support, maximizing our impact in the communities we serve. The Development Specialist serves the IRC’s offices in New York (Manhattan) and Elizabeth, New Jersey and reports to the Development Director.

Major Responsibilities:

· Provide general administrative support to the DevComms department including managing calendars and deadlines

· Maintain grants calendar for NY and NJ offices and work with Development Coordinator to ensure all donor proposal and reports are complete and submitted on time

· Support grants contracting processes, liaising with HQ for document review and requests

· Maintain up-to-date grant records and organizational documentation in various grant portals, liaising with IRC HQ for additional documentation when necessary

· Support any grant Site Visit preparation as they arise

· Maintain list of grant opportunities and contribute to proposal development as needed

· Coordinate front desk volunteers and coverage for NY office

· Coordinate the acceptance of in-kind donations, store in and organize the donation closet, and alert staff to items available for distribution

· Assist with posting volunteer and internship opportunities for the NY and NJ offices

· Attend community, donor and other related events, representing the IRC as needed

· Comply with all policies, procedures and protocols of the agency

· Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree required.

· Minimum of one to three years of professional work experience required. Experience with database management (Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge) grantwriting, and other resource development experience strongly preferred.

· Proven organizational skills in a complex, multi-tasking environment and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

· Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with volunteers, partner agencies, multi-cultural clients and colleagues on all levels.

· Superior writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail. Excellent Microsoft Office skills

· Ability to work some evening and weekend hours for events as needed.

· Fluency in English, written and spoken.

Working Environment***:*** Standard Work Environment; some remote work and local travel required. Position may be primarily based in New York (Manhattan) or Elizabeth, New Jersey, with as-needed travel to the other location.

The anticipated pay rate for this position is $26.00 per hour. Please note the published pay rate is specific to candidates based in the New York Metropolitan area or New Jersey.
