Consultancy: Development of a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Strategy and Action Plan

The Organization:

Search for Common Ground (Search) is the world’s largest dedicated peacebuilding organization, founded in 1982. With programs across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and the United States, Search transforms conflict with diverse tools inspired by its Common Ground Approach. Search is implementing a 10-year strategy to drive enduring change and transform many of the world’s most consequential conflicts.

The Project:

Search for Common Ground (Search) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) are implementing with support from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) the Borderlands Project Northern Mozambique-Southern Tanzania project running from 5 April 2023 through to 31 March 2026. The project seeks to enhance peace and stability in the border areas of Southern Tanzania and Northern Mozambique and build community-level resilience against instability and conflict.

The Assignment:

Search is seeking the services of an external consultant to support the development of a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Strategy and related Action Plan for the project. The consultant will work under the supervision of the project’s GESI Advisor and provide research, coordination, and drafting support for the development of the GESI Strategy.

Deliverables:

  • First draft of GESI Strategy and Action Plan (internal, for Search-IOM teams)
  • Second draft of GESI Strategy and Action Plan (external, for donor teams)
  • Final GESI Strategy and Action Plan

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in development studies, social sciences, international studies, or other related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • At least three years of progressive experience in gender equality and social inclusion in peacebuilding, resilience, humanitarian, and/or development programming.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing a program-wide GESI Strategy across geographies.
  • Experience with the Tanzanian and/or Mozambican contexts will be considered an advantage.
  • Available for the period of the assignment.
  • Excellent research and analytical writing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Strong command (native or near-native level) of the English language (written and oral).
