E-Learning Assistant

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Internews Impact and Learning Team is looking for an e-learning professional to help migrate online course content to our new Learning Management System (LMS). This work will mostly involve basic data entry and copying content, but there may be some situations where small instructional design decisions need to be made.

This role would be well-suited to someone who is comfortable with using new technologies, who is confident doing detailed and sometimes repetitive tasks, and who may wish to gain experience implementing content in an LMS or online learning platform.

LOGISTICS

This is a short-term, remote position for candidates located in the United States or United Kingdom. Candidates should possess independent work authorization in their work location that does not require employer sponsorship.

This is a limited-term position anticipated for 70-100 hours over a period of 3-5 weeks.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:

  • Rebuild course content in a new LMS, copying from the existing version in the old LMS;
  • Upload files, media, images and text into pre-existing templates;
  • Build basic multiple choices quizzes, assignments and feedback forms in our Moodle environment;
  • Follow guidance on content development requirements, set-up and template-use;
  • Incorporate and respond to feedback from the LMS team as necessary;
  • Review and check courses to ensure they function as intended and no flaws have been introduced in the migration process.

Key Objective

  • To have all our courses migrated and functioning on our new LMS system, so that staff and external users can access and learn from them.

Key Deliverable

  • Selection of functioning courses that closely resemble their source materials, made up of resources and activities that have been built accurately.

QUALIFICATIONS WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Proficient in professional software (eg Microsoft Excel) and comfortable learning new tools quickly and independently;
  • Detail-oriented and efficient in copying and inputting data, even if it is content that you may not be familiar with or understand initially;
  • Demonstrable interest in e-learning and learning design;
  • Ability to work independently to deadlines and communicate progress with the LMS team frequently and transparently;
  • Candidate must have their own computer and internet connection that can handle uploading files and working with browser-based apps.
  • Experience with creating content in an LMS, e-learning development and basic HTML would be a plus.
