Juba, South Sudan, 24 September 2024 – World Vision is launching a campaign to end child hunger and malnutrition in South Sudan and is inviting partners to imagine a South Sudan where every child has ENOUGH.

“The campaign envisions a world where children in South Sudan have access to enough nutritious food, education, play, health services, resources, and a protective environment. The goal is to create a South Sudan where every child can live a safer, healthier, and happier life and build a better future,” says Mesfin Loha, World Vision South Sudan Country Director.

The South Sudan launch of the global initiative, called ENOUGH, will take place tomorrow, 25 September, at the Dr. John Garang Primary School in Juba. Her Excellency Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior will be the guest of honour and speaker at the event, joined by other dignitaries, including the national Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, Honorable Aya Benjamin Warille; Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Honorable Albino Akol Atak; Relief and Rehabilitation Commission Chairperson, Honorable Gatwech Ulang Peter; Children Parliament Speaker, Honorable Amoko Ronnie; and representatives of World Food Programme, national and international non-governmental organizations, faith-based organisations, and Stanbic Bank, among others. They will have the opportunity to hear from children and mothers about what ENOUGH means to the children in South Sudan and how it could be achieved, as well as join the school feeding and kitchen garden activities at Dr. John Garang Primary School.

Globally and in South Sudan, the ENOUGH campaign aims to ensure that children are visible and heard in hunger, nutrition, and food security-related policies at all levels, and help more children enjoy better food security, nutrition, and resilience through prioritised services.

According to Mesfin, World Vision recognises that addressing children’s nutrition needs is multi-faceted and emphasises the need for collective effort to address these challenges. “The ENOUGH campaign acknowledges the crucial role that the Government of South Sudan, the donor community, and other partners play in ensuring children have enough nutritious food, access to quality health care, safe learning spaces, clean and safe water, dignified sanitation, and hygiene services. Everyone’s involvement is invaluable, and urgent advocacy and collaboration are needed to achieve zero hunger and prioritise child nutrition and food security. The time to act is now,” he adds.
