Agronomist 2

Under the direct supervision of the Economic Security (EcoSec) Delegate, the Agronomist 2 plans, implements, and monitors the Economic Security (EcoSec) Unit’s agriculture programmes in line with the country strategy and under the supervision and guidance of their hierarchical superior.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the design, implementation and monitoring of the agro interventions as part of EcoSec program, with minimum supervision (seed multiplication, seed and tool distribution and capacity-building).
  • Is responsible for ensuring the gathering, entry, and management of an accurate Agro related data into ICRC related reporting systems, PAM, EPMT, Device Magic and other EcoSec related Programme tools.
  • Performs basic qualitative and quantitative data analysis of surveys and assessments, using Microsoft office tools and other related applications such as pivot charts, etc and generates results and produces data visualizations.
  • Contributes to identifying response options by analysing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT).
  • Contributes to designing a suitable method for registering beneficiaries.
  • Performs timely agro program specific planning, devises approaches, implementation and ensuring well-coordinated logistical process and reporting of assistance provided to affected people.
  • Generates written reports (technical) on field visits; needs, context and vulnerability assessments, activity reports, monitoring reports including PHMs and PDMs, on the program in a timely manner.
  • Monitors agricultural livelihood issues, food security related matters in assigned area and promptly reports any constraints faced by farmers, along the agro value chain including climate related anomaly, crop disease and inputs availability issues.
  • Assist EcoSec delegate in the implementation and monitoring of non-agro Economic Security activities as needed. Activities include registration activities, general food distributions, NFI and micro-economic initiatives, etc.
  • Supervise community project committees, national society volunteers and consultants and closely monitors program in areas of responsibility.
  • Maintains contacts with EcoSec interlocutors / authorities at various levels.
  • Ensures follow-up and updates files & databases if required.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy,
  • 2-3 years of work experience in the fields of food security and agricultural livelihood is mandatory.
  • Good command spoken and written English and Hausa language.
  • Computer literate, with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • More than 3 years of professional experience in Agricultural livelihood programming and at least 1 year in implementation of Agricultural response in humanitarian or private sector setting.
  • Applicants should have a Nigerian nationality or hold a working permit.
