Basic Healthcare and Nursing Assistant Trainer

Ghiras Al-Nahda is a Non-profit Non-governmental humanitarian organization working to empower people through fulfilling their basic needs and seeking to improve community stability and resilience.

Background to the Assignment

The “Basic Healthcare and Nursing Assistant” course aims to provide participants with fundamental healthcare skills and nursing assistance to enhance their ability to provide support and care in healthcare environments.

Scope of Work

The trainer will be responsible for:

  • Developing a comprehensive course curriculum including lesson plans, learning materials, and assessments.
  • Delivering informative and interactive training sessions that cover fundamental healthcare concepts and nursing skills.
  • Facilitating practical exercises and hands-on demonstrations in nearby hospitals and clinics to enhance practical learning and application of skills.
  • Assessing participants’ performance through written assessments and practical evaluations.
  • Providing regular feedback and guidance to participants to ensure their progress and address challenges.
  • Adapting teaching approaches to cater to different learning styles of participants.
  • Collaborating with program management to identify curriculum improvement areas and incorporate participant feedback.
  • Maintaining accurate records of attendance, assessments, and progress for each participant.

The training aims to achieve the following objectives:

The primary objectives of this course are to:

  • Introduce participants to the concepts of basic healthcare and nursing.
  • Develop participants’ abilities to provide basic care and assistance to patients.
  • Provide a foundational understanding of medical procedures and health safety in healthcare settings.

Key Deliverables:

  • The trainer will prepare training materials/agenda/contents/sessions of the training and submit these at least one week before the start of the training.
  • The trainer will facilitate the preparation of training follow-up and action plan.
  • After the completion of the training, the trainer will share a comprehensive training report in the agreed format within 10 days after the completion of the training.

LOCATION:

The location is GAN’s center in Afrin.

TIMEFRAME

This is a three-month short-term assignment for individual trainers (with possibility of extension). Tentatively this assignment will start by the beginning of September 2023. The trainer is expected to provide 2.5 hours per day six days per week.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

The trainer should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Medical-related certificate.
  • Familiarity with basic healthcare concepts and nursing fundamentals.
  • Experience in teaching or training in the field of healthcare or nursing.
  • Strong understanding of teaching methodologies and effective instructional techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills to simplify concepts and engage participants.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to healthcare and nursing.
