Business Mentoring / Monitoring Practitioner

SRD Center is seeking qualified Business Mentoring / Monitoring Practitioner to join a short-term consultancy assignment supporting agricultural micro and small enterprises, rural entrepreneurs, community-based organizations, and local communities in Jordan.

The assignment aims to strengthen beneficiaries’ capacities to establish, manage, expand and sustain viable agricultural and agri-business enterprises through practical business development support, training, coaching and follow-up.

Tasks

The Business Mentoring and Monitoring Practitioner will provide individualized advisory support and follow-up to beneficiaries during the establishment, development or expansion of their enterprises.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide structured individual and/or small-group business mentoring.
  • Review beneficiaries’ business plans, implementation progress and business challenges.
  • Support beneficiaries during the start-up or expansion of their businesses.
  • Identify business-management, operational, marketing and financial gaps.
  • Develop practical recommendations and corrective actions together with beneficiaries.
  • Assist beneficiaries in establishing realistic business milestones and action plans.
  • Monitor implementation of agreed business plans and recommendations.
  • Conduct regular field visits and follow-up sessions.
  • Track the progress and performance of supported enterprises.
  • Develop and use appropriate monitoring and follow-up tools.
  • Assess progress against agreed business milestones and performance indicators.
  • Identify enterprises requiring additional or specialized support.
  • Coordinate referrals to business development, packaging or marketing specialists when required.
  • Monitor challenges affecting business sustainability.
  • Document beneficiary progress, achievements, challenges and lessons learned.
  • Identify and document potential success stories and good practices.
  • Contribute to mentoring progress reports.
  • Contribute to the final assessment of supported businesses.
  • Participate in training evaluation and acquired-skills assessment where required.
  • Contribute to the final consultancy report and recommendations.

The ToR specifically calls for individualized mentoring, business advisory support, identification of operational gaps, regular field visits and written monitoring reports.

Qualifications

  • University degree, preferably an advanced degree, in Business Administration, Business Development, Agribusiness, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Rural Development or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in business mentoring, coaching and SME advisory services.
  • Experience supporting micro and small enterprises during start-up and/or business expansion.
  • Experience conducting business performance monitoring and structured follow-up.
  • Experience developing or applying business monitoring tools and indicators.
  • Strong understanding of business planning, financial management, marketing and operational management.
  • Experience working with agricultural SMEs, smallholder farmers, rural entrepreneurs, CBOs or cooperatives is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable populations, refugee/host communities or community-based livelihood programmes is an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work directly with entrepreneurs and translate identified challenges into practical actions.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Ability and willingness to conduct regular field visits in Balqa, Ajloun and Jerash.
  • Fluency in Arabic is required for beneficiary-facing activities.
  • Good English skills are desirable.
