The program
The Australia Awards Global Support Mechanism (AAGSM) is a new initiative designed to enhance the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s (DFAT) international scholarship program delivery by providing operational, technical and analytical services. The AAGSM consists of the Program Support Unit (PSU) – responsible for operational and technical services to DFAT and the scho larship delivery network, and the Research and Analytical Support Unit (RASU) – responsible for analytical and research services for international scholarship programs. Palladium delivers the AAGSM PSU and cooperates with DFAT to ensure effective functioning with the RASU.
The role
We are seeking two (2) Communications and Events Coordinators who led by the Communications and Public Diplomacy Manager will work with a team of highly skilled and professional communications, public diplomacy, and scholar and alumni engagement experts to provide vibrant, high quality and fit for purpose communication services and products and events for DFAT, the PSU and scholarship and fellowship stakeholders.
You will:
- Coordinate end-to-end event activity, bring your experience in developing event plans and coordinating logistics and execution of events.
- Coordinate event suppliers, volunteers and external clients, while monitoring event success with performance indicators, delivering regular reports.
- Support implementation of planned communications activities, as well as promotional campaigns to promote DFAT’s international scholarship and fellowship programs.
- Prepare content for digital and hard copy scholarship and fellowship program pieces including social media, websites, print materials, newsletters as well as writing, placing, and distributing press releases, stories, and opinion pieces.
- Work with colleagues on digital communication strategies and content creation, publishing, and analytics reporting for the website, social media and other communication activities (e.g. podcasts).
- Coordinate scholarship and fellowship program merchandise management including commissioning, procurement, distribution, transport and storage of merchandise.
About you
Bringing strength and demonstrated experience in communications or event management or both, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as communications or event management
- A level of experience in executing successful events and communications strategies.
- Higher education, alumni engagement or international development experience, advantageous but not a deal breaker.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with project management, event planning and or digital communications software and tools and systems, including a high level of aptitude in Microsoft Office programs and ICT skills.
- Effective communication, interpersonal and social skills including cross-cultural experience and communication skills.
- Developed professional writing skills, a strong sense of brand adherence and the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders.
- Proactive and strong support, diagnostic, problem solving and troubleshooting competency and ability to implement solutions as appropriate.
