CARE has been working with women in garment factories for more than 20 years, partnering with factories, brands, industry associations, from around the globe in countries across Asia and in new sourcing countries. In January 2023, CARE is launching Empower@Work, a new global collaborative platform, to support meaningful change across the industry by promoting improved practices in global supply chains, and strengthening women’s capacity strengthening and leadership in workplaces. The Corporate and Partnerships Coordinator, Garment, will lead and manage the relationships with brands in CARE’s garment projects, ensuring a smooth and fruitfull collaboration between CARE’s country teams and their corporate partners. S/He will also be responsible for coordinating CARE’s role within Empower@Work, leading CARE’s participation in the initiative both at the global and field levels.

Responsibilities:

1. Garment Corporate Relationship Management

  • Leads the relationship with private sector donors and partners for key garment projects, in close collaboration with CARE’s country and Private Partnership teams,
  • Provides high quality technical advice, including direct assistance to country offices, to ensure alignment between brands and factories requirements and CARE’s methodologies
  • Works with the programme funding and private sector engagement teams globally to identify new opportunities in the Dignified Work / Garment areas.

2. Empower @ Work (E@W) Coordination

  • Works with colleagues across the CARE confederation to coordinate CARE’s participation in the E@W partnership, including supporting the CARE representative to the E@W Board,
  • Coordinates internal E@W groups within CARE, providing timely and regular updates to internal stakeholders, and gets sign off for key decisions from these group,
  • Ensures CARE’s projects and E@W’s programming are fully articulated, and produce synergies in terms of activities and impacts.

3. Representation

  • Represents CARE externally, in negotiations and events involving corporates, CSR/Sourcing teams
  • Represents CARE within Empower@Work’s governance bodies, including the Technical Advisory Board and the Secretariat of Empower@Work.

Qualifications:

  • BA, MA in development or related subject, or equivalent expertise.
  • 5-7 years in working within Ethical Trade and Global Supply Chains, for the garment industry.
  • Experience in designing and delivering programming on dignified work in garment factories.
  • Experience of working on hybrid and complex partnership with a range of stakeholders.
  • Significant experience in advising on and implementing development programmes involving private sector, markets or economic development,
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and networking skills.
  • Experience working across global and regional teams, and ability to work remotely across diverse networks
