Lifting Hands International (LHI) is seeking a Director of Distributions, Logistics, and Finance to start ASAP in Serres, Greece, with a minimum six-month commitment. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
About Us
LHI is a grassroots NGO operating a community center in Serres, a town about an hour from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece. We work with a diverse population of over 1,000 refugees and asylum seekers from different communities in the two local camps, providing regular aid distributions and psychosocial support through a community-led approach.
Role Profile
This is a practical, hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on both strategic planning and rolling up their sleeves to help with day-to-day tasks. As Director of DLF, you’ll split your time between home-office administrative tasks and field-based work, including supporting our team at our community center, helping with registration during distributions, and ensuring smooth warehouse operations.
As Director of DLF, you will collaborate closely with the Country Director, Director of Operations, Director of Human Resources, and Director of Outreach and Development to lead and support the LHI team, ensuring efficient implementation and meaningful development of LHI operations in Serres.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee aid distribution, logistics, and operational finances.
- Provide line management while working on practical tasks with the logistics team and program managers, actively engaging in operational tasks across distributions, warehouse operations, logistics, and facilities.
- Lead development of aid distribution and logistics programs to increase community engagement and adjust emergency aid options to the changing needs.
- Work as part of our director team to oversee a multicultural group of program managers, visiting volunteers, and community volunteers.
- Coordinate the distribution and exchange of aid with external partners and organizations across Northern Greece.
- Prepare reports and contribute to strategic planning.
- Regularly update the Country Director on program developments.
Essential Criteria
- People Management: At least 1 year of experience in a coordination role, including people management experience in a multicultural team.
- Humanitarian Experience: Previous experience in aid distribution, warehouse management, or logistics.
- Psycho-social Support: Understanding of the implementing psycho-social support programs and Safeguarding policies.
- Teamwork: Strong communication skills with the ability to work efficiently in a large, diverse team, bringing a learning mindset, flexibility, and a “happy to help” approach.
- Flexibility: Comfortable adapting to changing priorities and moving between strategic planning and hands-on, practical work.
- Professionalism: Able to remain calm, constructive, and solutions-focused under pressure.
- Proactive: Able to manage your own workload, make decisions when needed, and stay connected to the team and your line manager.
- Commitment: Minimum six-month commitment required.
- Language: Fluent in English.
- Driving requirements: Valid international driver’s license, with ability to drive manual vehicles and vans.
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of Greek / Arabic / Kurmanji / Farsi / French.
- Relevant degree(s) in a related field.
- Experience with bookkeeping and financial tracking.
- Potential to stay on the team for 6-12 months.
