DSWD assists LGUs in profiling of families hit by easterlies in Cebu

The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Field Office-7 (Central Visayas) on Wednesday (July 10) assisted concerned localities in the profiling and assessment of displaced families affected by the effects of the easterlies in Cebu province.

“Disaster Response Teams and Municipal Action Teams (MATs) of the DSWD FO-7 provided technical assistance on the camp management and protection of the welfare of the internally displaced families in Liloan, Cebu,” said Asst. Secretary for Disaster Response Management Group Irene Dumlao, who is also the DSWD spokesperson.

As of press time, there are 37 families or 135 persons currently taking temporary shelter at the Liloan Central School.

The Field Office team also went to the municipalities of Carmen and Catmon.

“We assure affected local government units (LGUs) that the DSWD has enough supplies for augmentation. The Visayas Disaster Resource Center (VDRC) has 60,636 family food packs (FFPs), while the DSWD Field Office-7 has 56,158 FFPs which can be delivered to the affected citizens,” Asst. Sec. Dumlao pointed out.

The DSWD Central Visayas Field Office will continue to monitor the situation of the disaster-affected areas and to provide immediate assistance as ordered by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
