Join LM International as a Global HR Manager, where you will provide strategic guidance in Global Human Resources to optimize organisational performance while fulfilling LM’s mission, vision, and core values. A key area of advancement is fostering a culture of learning and professional growth within LM International. You will provide support to the Secretary General, the Chief Operating Officer, and the entire Global Management in aligning employees with organisational strategies, goals, and priorities.

LM was founded in Sweden in 1958 and is today a global foundation with is Global office in Stockholm/Sweden. We are present in around 20 countries and work on long-term aid efforts to combat poverty, with a focus on livelihoods and food and nutrition security, health, education, and water and sanitation. We also operate in fragile states and conflicts and provide emergency humanitarian assistance.
Your main responsibilities will include
- Strategic HR: Monitor and implement global HR strategies that align with organisational objectives. Lead the development and harmonisation of HR policies and procedures across LM International, ensuring consistency while respecting local cultural and legal contexts. Provide strategic support to Regional and Country HR teams to ensure compliance and effective HR practices.
- Talent Management: Oversee global recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to attract and retain top talent. Develop and implement HR programs focused on performance management, succession planning, and employee development. Support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, and lead the Traineeship Program “Step4Life” to develop emerging young leaders.
- Staff Wellbeing: Enhance mental health support and stress management initiatives for staff, ensuring their overall wellbeing. Ensure comprehensive health insurance and medical evacuation coverage globally and promote flexible work arrangements and Rest & Recuperation (R&R) strategies.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with local labour laws, tax regulations, and employment practices across multiple jurisdictions. Stay updated with global HR regulations and address employee relations matters, including dispute resolution and disciplinary actions, in coordination with the Head of Global Security.
- Compensation & Benefits: Design and oversee a competitive global compensation and benefits structure based on comprehensive market analysis. Implement and manage effective HR information systems, such as BambooHR, for operational efficiency, and utilise HR analytics to assess effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Capacity Building: Provide training and capacity-building support to country HR teams on HR best practices and engage with external stakeholders, such as HR consultants, to ensure effective HR service delivery.
Essential Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Global HR work, in an INGO or multinational organisation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in developing global HR strategies and standardising HR policies across diverse regions.
- Knowledge of international labour laws, humanitarian HR standards, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience working in diverse cultural environments, managing cross-cultural teams, and fostering global collaboration.
- Strong management and and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams across regions.
- Proven track record in implementing and driving HR programs, such as talent management, performance management, and employee development.
- Ability to navigate complex international HR landscapes, adapt to changing regulations, and manage HR-related risks.
- Proficiency in HR systems such as BambooHR, HR analytics tools, and MS Office applications, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
- Understanding of data protection regulations and confidentiality requirements in handling employee information.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment with a customer-centric mindset.
- Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with global HR regulations and best practices.
- Fluent in spoken and written English (as it is the corporate language).
Desirable Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- French language skills.
- HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, CIPD, or equivalent).
About the Position
- Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week with flexible working hours.
- Location: Africa Regional Office (Nairobi, Kenya) or associated Africa Country Office.
- Travel: May be required as needed.
- Employment Type: Permanent position (with a six-month probationary period).
- Start Date: As soon as possible.
