About United States Committe for Refugees and Immigrants
The U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI), established in 1911, is a
nongovernmental, not-for-profit international organization dedicated to addressing the
needs and rights of refugees and immigrants. USCRI, working with its affiliates, provides
legal services, social, and health services to refugees, unaccompanied migrating children,
trafficking survivors, and other immigrants in United States, El Salvador, Honduras, Kenya,
and Mexico. USCRI advocates for the rights of refugees and immigrants both nationally
and globally, helping to drive policies, practices and law.
About USCRI’s Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean
In 2024, Diálogo Intercultural Mexicano (DIME A.C.) was absorbed by USCRI. As the newly
established Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, it oversees USCRI
operations in Mexico, El Salvador and Honduras. Current programs are:
- US-Mexico Border Program: addresses the legal needs of migrants at the U.S.-
Mexico Border. - Habesha Project: provides higher education opportunities in Mexico for refugees
from around the world - Welcoming Communities: fosters student initiatives and refugee leadership on
university campuses - Redii: promotes safe, dignified return and sustainable reintegration for returnees
in Honduras and El Salvador.
About the internship program
USCRI Mexico internship program seeks for people who have different profiles to support
the team in different areas of the organization. The applicants will be matched to an area
or program based on their motivations, interests, previous experiences, academic
background and skills.
Areas and responsibilities
The responsibilities will be related to the specific area of the internship, the following is a
brief description of the intern’s role in each area.
Profile
• Experience in work, volunteer, or internship roles within organizations or areas
related to migration, human rights, or vulnerable populations is desirable.
• Bachelor’s degree or currently a student in International Relations, Political
Science, Communication, Social Work or related studies.
• Master’s degree is desirable.
Language: Proficient in English and Spanish, or good command of oral, written and
reading comprehension skills in either one of the two languages or both.
Computer skills: Excellent domain of Microsoft Office 365 and Google Suite.
Evaluations: The positions are subjected to mid-term performance review.
Internship period: July to December 2025 (6 months).
