During the week (15th to 21st April, 2024), rainfall was recorded all over the country except most part of the Sindh.
The spatial distribution of rainfall is shown in Figure 5. The Figure 6 shows the departure of the rainfall from the normal (1991-2020), the north western and north eastern parts of the country including Kashmir and NW KP province, and south western Baluchistan (Coastal Areas) are showing significantly above normal rainfall. Existing mild droughtlike conditions in the Sindh (except Karachi and Hyderabad) are expected to continue. Details are mentioned in Monthly drought bulletin for March, 2024.

During the week (15th to 21st April, 2024), the spatial distribution of Mean temperature is shown in Figure 7. Mean temperatures remained normal to near normal in most parts of the country except South Western Baluchistan. Some areas like Mianwali in Punjab, Peshawar in KP and, Gupis and Astore in Gilgit Baltistan recorded above normal temperatures.

During the week (15th to 21st April, 2024) the spatial distribution of Normal rainfall is shown in Figure 9. Normal rainfall is 0 to 5 millimeter in southern parts of the country while in northern part, like KP, Kashmir and Potohar Region rainfall is 10 to 50 millimeter. While normal temperature during the period is shown in the Figure 10, the temperature ranges from 10 to 30 degree Celsius temperature.

Duration of Forecast:22nd April-28th April, 2024

  • On 22nd and 23rd April, mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the country while, hot in southern parts. However, rain-wind/thunderstorm is likely in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and adjoining hilly areas.
  • On 24th April, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country while, partly cloudy in northern areas. However, rain-wind/thunderstorm is likely in western Balochistan.
  • On 25th April, Rain-wind/thunderstorm is likely in Balochistan, south Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, south Punjab. Dust/thunderstorm-light rain is expected in upper Sindh. Hot and dry weather is expected in other parts of the country.
  • On 26th April, Rain-wind/thunderstorm (Isolated heavy falls) is expected in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Punjab, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Isolated hailstorm also likely during the period. Snowfall is also likely over high mountains in northern areas. Dust/thunderstorm-light rain is expected in upper Sindh.
  • On 27th and 28th April, Rain-wind/thunderstorm (Isolated heavy falls) is expected in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Punjab, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Isolated hailstorm also likely during the period.
    Snowfall is also likely over high mountains in northern areas.

Note: According to this forecast some relief may be expected in the current mild drought affected areas of South Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan.
