About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding Project Officer to support project implementation in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Project Officer will support the implementation of the Locally-Led Humanitarian Solutions (LLHS) project in the selected regions and countries of operation. The Project Officer will be supervised by the Project Coordinator and work closely with other Project Officers within the project, Secretariat team, national implementing partners, GNDR members, relevant board members, consultants and advisors.

This is a varied and exciting role which encompasses a range of tasks and responsibilities in a high-profile and innovative programme that will require constant and meaningful engagement between civil society, local and national governments and other stakeholders.

Overall scope of the role

  • Facilitate the execution of LLHS-Nexus strategy and project work plan
  • Support project implementation in the selected countries
  • Manage agreements with implementing partners
  • Information management and reporting
  • Support the implementation of capacity strengthening initiatives for partners
  • Liaise with regional and secretariat staff for promotion and relationship building activities

Candidate requirements

Successful candidates should have the following experience, skills and attributes:

  • Relevant experience with project implementation specifically funded by USAID or the European Commission
  • Extensive experience with large scale project implementation with a focus on conflict, climate change and disaster risk reduction
  • Ability to build and maintain trusted working relationships with civil society organisations, preferably developed within the countries of interest
  • Knowledge of people-centred participatory tools and inclusive approaches
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English, with proficiency in Spanish
  • Good interpersonal manner and comfortable in cross-cultural communication with people from different backgrounds
  • A strong team player, collaborative, adaptable, self-motivated, with the ability to anticipate problems, thinking critically to seek appropriate solutions
  • A commitment to values of trust, mutual accountability, equality, inclusion and respect for diverse identities and perspectives

Eligibility

We are accepting applications from candidates based in Central America, Colombia and Peru. Suitable candidates will need to be able to travel internationally when necessary.

Salary

We offer a competitive salary and benefits based on the regional location. This is a fixed-term (2 years), full-time position.

Start date

Negotiable although we are looking to fill the position as early as possible.
