The job holder performs roles in the support services area and implements services in the functional areas of operations support. The summary of key functions/accountabilities is as follows: support financial management and accounting for the office in Belgrade, office management and day-to-day administration, and supply chain and procurement. Some of the key areas of accountability include daily cash/bank payments and ensuring all payments are done in compliance with local regulations, SC policies and procedures, donor and audit requirements, maintaining financial records, contributing to the preparation of statements, undertaking account reconciliations, including with various balance sheet accounts. Role holder will also be responsible to support local partners in monitoring and supporting their implementation of SC-funded projects. In terms of supply chain and procurement, the job holder will ensure that procurement activities are carried out in full compliance of Save the Children’s policy and protocol and also aligned with donor requirements. He/she will be expected and supported to also act as a focal point for key functional areas: fraud, safety and security, IT, and possibly others. The job holder must ensure the smooth functioning of support services in the Serbia Field Office, including support to the Balkans Migration and Displacement Hub. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
In order to be successful, you will bring/have:
- Bachelor degree in accounting/finance/business administration or related subject or demonstrable relevant experience
- Minimum 5 years of similar working experience, preferably with NGO and INGO
- Good team work with related staff, partners and external associates;
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
- Knowledge of SAP, Unit4 Agresso and Oracle system would be considered an advantage.
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Proven strong accounting and analytical skills, good attention to detail
- Experience providing administrative support and supporting effective and efficient office management
- Ability to work under pressure, both independently as well as part of the team and meet deadlines;
- Willing to travel in the region
- Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours during the emergency response;
- Valid Driver’s license with driving experience will be considered as advantage;
- Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children, the organisational mandate and child focus, including child safeguarding.
- Willingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours and work with incoming surge teams in the event of emergencies
