Position Title: Financial Analyst, Haiti

Reports to: Finance Manager, Haiti

Location: Boston, MA or Remote US-based

Position Overview:

The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting key areas of the Financial Analysis & Planning team, including providing financial support to PIH’s sister organization in Haiti, Zanmi Lasante (ZL) site, assisting in managing aspects of PIH’s restricted revenue portfolio (proposal development, monitoring, and reporting) and contributing to the overall team culture of financial accompaniment.

Responsibilities:

Fund management and budget development (85%)

• Assists in the management of a portfolio of restricted government and institutional funds including analyzing spending patterns and variances to budget on a monthly basis, monitoring expenses to ensure compliance with PIH and grantor policies, and completing budget modifications or reforecasts
• Assists in the preparation of donor reports, invoices, and other financial documentation according to donor specifications and PIH policies and monitor outstanding receivables
• Assists in the facilitation of budget development for new donor proposals by working closely with the development, program design, and site finance teams and ensure that as new grants are awarded they are incorporated into the appropriate PIH overall country budget
• Assists with the PIH annual budgeting process by handling the information flow between budget tools and our financial system and supporting the country team as needed
• Assists in developing and maintaining various financial analyses and tools for new and ongoing cross-departmental projects such as budget creation templates, fund reporting, periodic budget vs actuals reports, and payroll processing
• Build and cultivate relationships with international site finance teams, serving as key point of contact for fund management

Domestic and international accounting (15%)

• Prepare general ledger entries for both domestic and international transactions
• Supports in the review various bank and balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis as a part of PIH’s close process
• Supports in the generation and analysis of monthly financial statement reports for PIH’s work in Haiti, including supporting site CFOs on areas requiring focus and/or correction
• Assists in responding to inquiries through the PIH Finance Helpdesk such as working with sites to troubleshoot issues with our financial tools, creating new funds, and replying to general accounting process questions

Qualifications:

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in finance, accounting, or related field
• Minimum 2-3 years progressively responsible finance experience
• Proficiency in conversational French or Haitian Creole strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage competing priorities
• Experience with information systems or proven ability to learn new systems quickly
• Advanced Excel skills
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of the time
• Ability to solve problems creatively in order to meet organizational goals and objectives
• Ability to work well with a diverse team of stakeholders, honoring the concerns and priorities of local staff in field sites
• Exemplary interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff across departments and country.
• Interest in social justice strongly desirable
