Project Coordinator, Advocacy – Food Fortification

About the Role

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Project Coordinator, Advocacy – Food Fortification to support the day-to-day quality implementation of advocacy part and monitoring and reporting of projects under the LSFF portfolio with a special focus on Fortification of Edible Oil and Salt in Bangladesh. This role will be offered on a 2 years’ fixed-term contract basis, subject to availability of funding. You will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This job is contingent on successful award, anticipated start date will be October 2023.

Reporting to the Project Manager – Food Fortification, the Project Coordinator will contribute to achieving the performance of the program specially focused on advocacy with government, associations/professional bodies, academicians and private sectors under Digitizing Fortification Quality and Strengthening Enabling Environment project. You will be actively involved in QUAD (quarterly performance evaluation) for respective workstreams and provide updates on project implementation.

In addition, you will contribute to the project implementation of the advocacy part as well as quality monitoring and reporting of the Digitization of Fortification Quality and Strengthening Enabling Environment (DFQS) under Large Scale Food Fortification Program (LSFF).

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting with progressing the advocacy agenda of the edible oil fortification program and other food fortification program in Bangladesh in close partnership with the Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Food, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, International Federation of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus committee in Bangladesh, SBN, Pediatric Associations, Obstetrics and Gynecology Networks (OBGNs), National Heart Foundation (NHF) oil refineries, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Assisting in the project implementation activities of the advocacy and developing requirement analysis documents for producers, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Supporting the Finance team during the financial reporting, audit of the program and clarifying the work done to ensure timely and adequate disbursement of funds as per projection
  • Visiting the field when necessary to ensure that project progress is on track and assisting in designing and implementing risk mitigation plans if required
  • Collaborating and coordinating with the project team regularly and effectively to ensure the proper implementation of advocacy related planned activities under LSFF portfolio
  • Coordinating and organising small to medium events and supporting the Portfolio Lead and Project Managers to organise National level events
  • Supporting in drafting documentation of the activities including Monitoring Reports based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Quarterly reports, annual reports, best practices, QA/QC and capacity building manual for mainstreaming the best practices of the project

About You

The ideal candidate will have prior experience of working within food fortification, policy development, advocacy, resource management, project management and implementation with quality reporting. You will have proven experience in advocacy with government, especially with Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Food, Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Candidates’ with experience working with government offices, creative and research agencies is preferrable.

The postholder will also have experience working within the international development sector and food industries, preferably with the private sector or other relevant industries and working with multi-stakeholders such as (vendors, clients, end users, donors).

You will be a dynamic individual with good interpersonal and communication skills in multicultural, multi-lingual environments and will be highly flexible and willing to travel to field sites frequently. In addition to this, you will possess fluent written and spoken English and Bangla.

A bachelor’s degree or above in Food Science and Technology, International Relations, Governance, Development Studies or related.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in using modern technology and analysis with the ability to effectively liaise and facilitate with government offices, and other agencies. You will have proven background and experience in project implementation and management, specifically advocacy with government, associations, or private sectors for development projects.

About our Offer

The starting salary on offer for this role is from BDT 1,601,676 – BDT 1,830,276 per annum (gross salary), depending on experience.
