Reporting and Proposal-writing Volunteer/Intern

The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) has been actively involved in humanitarian endeavors in Jordan since 2012. With a strong presence in the country, LWF Jordan has effectively implemented programs in three programmatic areas: Economic Empowerment, Quality Services (Education), and Protection & Social Cohesion. These initiatives aim to support vulnerable groups, including Jordanians, Syrians, and refugees of various nationalities residing in Jordan. LWF has strategically positioned itself within the communities it serves by establishing multiple community centers in the Zarqa and Irbid Governorates, as well as in Mafraq, notably within the Za’atari Camp.

Purpose:

The Reporting and Proposal-writing volunteer will support LWF country program in areas of reporting and proposal writing. The Reporting and Proposal-writing volunteer direct supervisor will be the fundraising, Grants and partnerships manager. The position is based in Amman, with visits to the centers in Zarqa, Irbid and the Za’atari camp.

Main duties shall include the following:

Reporting

  • To establish close contacts with all LWF program staff so that they can gather and analyze information for reporting.
  • Consolidate and analyze data on program implementation, achievements, and indicators to facilitate the preparation of periodic reports and activity-specific reports as may be required and ensure the timeliness of such reports.
  • To contribute to the production, editing, and quality control of reports for reports content produced by the Jordan Program team and to ensure consistency in messaging and perform quality control before submitting to donors.
  • To carry out any other tasks as needed and requested by the line manager.

Proposal Process Support (Identification, Prioritization, and Development)

  • To support efforts to identify specific funding opportunities (upcoming calls) through necessary mapping and research and then provide proposal development support according to agreed priorities (preparedness and readiness to respond).
  • To support and/or coordinate the submission/response to calls, including writing the proposals,
  • To assist as well as provide in-country support for the proposal development and writing process,
  • To provide timely hands-on support to develop high-quality concept notes and proposals in response to calls (quality and timely submissions).
  • To conduct the necessary research to support the technical content of concept notes and proposals.
  • To maintain proper records and electronic filing systems of all drafts and final submissions and approved proposals.
  • To ensure that all rules and regulations required by the donor are adhered to and included in the proposal. This can consist of donor liaison when in the country.
  • To carry out any other proposal development tasks as needed and requested by the line manager.

Qualifications and experience

  • A graduate or undergraduate degree in English literature, Social Science, Development Studies, Human Rights, Communications, International Relations, or other related fields.
  • Knowledge of the humanitarian and development sector.
  • Excellent English writing skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Experience in donor reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and, at times, with little supervision.
  • Flexibility, patience, and ability to work under pressure and with very tight deadlines.
  • Excellent English language proficiency.
