The Refugee Self-Reliance Initiative (RSRI) believes that refugees deserve the opportunity to support themselves, contribute to their host communities, and live with dignity. The RSRI promotes opportunities for refugees around the world to become self-reliant and achieve a better quality of life. It is a global forum for learning, action, and collaboration on self-reliance. The Initiative has a network of 100+ members and 500+ collaborators involved in the RSRI community of practice and receives strategic guidance from a global Steering Committee. The RSRI was co-founded by RefugePoint and the Women’s Refugee Commission and is hosted by RefugePoint. You will be joining a growing effort that is spearheading new initiatives to change the face of humanitarian and development response efforts.

The RSRI host agency, RefugePoint, was founded in 2005 to provide lasting solutions for the world’s most at-risk refugees. With a global staff of 130+, RefugePoint is a leading innovator in the refugee solutions space. The organization identifies pathways to safety and self-reliance for refugees and aims to transform humanitarian response by building new programs in collaboration with refugees that lead to lasting solutions.

Position Overview:

The RSRI is a global network of over 100 humanitarian and development organizations committed to advancing refugee self-reliance. As our membership grows, we seek a dynamic and motivated Network Engagement Coordinator with excellent convening skills to strengthen collaboration between our community members and harness the peer learning potential within the network.

The Network Engagement Coordinator is responsible for building and maintaining strong, engaging relationships between the global network of RSRI stakeholders to build and strengthen the community and help organizations deliver on initiatives that advance refugee self-reliance.

Reporting to the RSRI Executive Director, you will develop a strategy for member and network engagement, organize stakeholders within the RSRI network – including state actors, funding institutions, and refugee leaders – and lead outreach to grow and deepen the engagement of the wide variety of entities involved in and interacting with the initiative. The position will work closely with the RSRI Communications Manager and RSRI Training and Technical Support Manager.

This position is based in Boston, MA, with the option to be remotely based. In addition, we offer a flexible work schedule with the opportunity to work a 4-day or 5-day workweek.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a community and network engagement strategy for RSRI’s various stakeholders, including state actors, philanthropic organizations, national and international NGOs, community-based organizations, multilateral organizations, refugee-led organizations, the private sector, academic institutions, and think tanks.
  • Work with the communications lead to draft and tailor relevant outreach, engagement, and membership content to different network segments and represent the initiative to various stakeholder audiences.
  • Coordinate and help facilitate, as appropriate, RSRI communities of practice (CoP) and coordinate the work and contracting of CoP consultants.
  • Work closely with the RSRI Executive Director, academic advisors and technical advisors and technical consultants to the RSRI to regularly update the RSRI network Learning Agenda, and to engage a variety of stakeholders on associated workstreams.
  • Create and manage invitations and registrations for bi-monthly Community of Practice calls and run Zoom and technical support needed for the calls.
  • Conceptualize and organize a variety of engagement activities, including chat groups, webinars, networking opportunities, training, peer-to-peer mentorship, film screenings, etc.
  • Lead online and in-person meetings and event planning and logistics, as required.
  • Manage and maintain the RSRI membership database, currently hosted through MailChimp and Monday.com.
  • Organize and engage the members already in our network to highlight their work on the RSRI platform and involve them in a variety of initiative activities and collaboration opportunities.
  • Expand membership through targeted outreach to under-represented stakeholders.
  • Jointly with the Executive Director, manage the engagement of the RSRI Technical Steering Committee and its sub-committees, including through administrative and technical support.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze membership and network trends and outlook, preparing reports, as needed, for internal and external use.
  • In addition to the core responsibilities outlined above, other duties may be assigned by the Executive Director as the RSRI membership and broader engagement network grows and evolves.

This position will require occasional international and domestic travel.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • 5-7+ years of relevant work experience in international association/international non-profit management and familiarity with international, humanitarian, and development programming and networks.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior-level staff and other senior-level partners.
  • Experience working in an international and multicultural work environment and proven track record of facilitating and convening culturally diverse groups.
  • Prior experience working with databases and (CRM) platforms; Salesforce preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to effectively manage projects, including meeting tight deadlines.
  • This position must be available for occasional early morning or early evening meetings with colleagues around the globe.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Compensation:
