SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER – HUMAN CAPITAL MANAGEMENT (HCM)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Project Manager sits within the Transformation Team of CARE USA. This team is responsible for supporting the delivery of some of CARE USA’s priority global projects across the organisation.

The Human Capital Management (HCM) project is going to be a multiple year transformation for CARE USA. It is due to be initiated during 2024 and will be led by a HCM Transformation Director who will manage a project team comprising this role, as well as a full time Senior Global Change Manager, staff from People & Culture and other relevant positions to help deliver this global project.

As the Senior Project Manager for the HCM project, you will be responsible for following CARE’s Project Delivery Lifecycle, project managing the end-to-end implementation of the HCM project. The role will be responsible for project planning and budgeting, resourcing planning, RAID management and project tracking activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Planning & Resource Management

  • Define the structure of the project so that the objectives for each workstream are clear and resources can be identified for successful delivery.
  • Develop and manage ambitious but achievable plans for each workstream within the HCM project and for the overall project, taking into consideration business deadlines, dependencies, resources, and costs.
  • Define and manage an overall resource plan for the project.

Project Management, Reporting & Governance

  • Drive the programme to a regular beat: monitor workstream activity, manage adherence to plan and help team members resolve obstacles to delivery.
  • Provide regular status reports on plan, finances, resources, risks and issues in line with guidelines set out by the Transformation team.
  • Proactively identify/manage project risks and issues.
  • Support the HCM Transformation Director with the management of project governance, including the HCM Steer Co, with required stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring their needs are understood and expectations are managed throughout the Project Delivery Lifecycle.
  • Communicate changes to scope or plans to stakeholders and assess their potential impact on the project’s overall objectives.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Senior Global Change Manager to ensure Change Management plans are incorporated and aligned to the overall project plan.

Contribute towards the wider promotion of project management

  • Be an active member of Transformation’s Project & Change Management group.
  • Help improve project management aspects within CARE’s Project Delivery Lifecycle and share examples of best practice.
  • Contribute towards the delivery Project Delivery Lifecycle training to project managers within and outside of Transformation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in a related field (Communications/Journalism/Marketing, organizational development, change management, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 5-7 years’ practical experience in project management of large scale and complex transformational initiatives
  • Experienced in leading projects related to Human Resources/People & Culture.
  • Experienced of working across a project lifecycle to deliver project management oversight and interventions
  • A deep understanding of organizational dynamics and culture, and the ability to navigate political landscapes
  • Experience working in a global organization, with knowledge of cultural differences
  • Strong problem solving and analytics background
