DESCRIPTION
Chronology:
On May 13, 2024, at 11:40 PM local time (WITA), the Geological Agency has announced the expansion of the hazardous area around Mount Ile Lewotolok. Previously, the danger zone was limited to the southeastern region (affecting villages such as Todanara, Jontona, Lamawolo, Lamatokan, Baolaliduli, and Lamaau). However, it has now been extended westward by 3 kilometers from the summit, impacting the village of Amakaka. This decision was made due to the lava flow moving toward Amakaka from the western area, which has already reached a distance of 1,200 meters from the summit or 2,800 meters from the village of Amakaka
