JOB SUMMARY

The Health Program Officer will be responsible for coordinating and implementing health programs, focusing on vaccination initiatives in collaboration with both Turkish and Syrian health authorities. The ideal candidate will have strong Turkish and English language skills, enabling effective communication and negotiation with national and international stakeholders. A medical background, particularly in public health and immunization, is essential for ensuring the success of health interventions targeting vulnerable populations. This position requires a minimum of 30% travel, both within Turkey and Syria, to support program activities.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Program Coordination:
    • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of health programs, with a particular focus on vaccination services.
    • Coordinate closely with Turkish and Syrian health authorities to align program activities with national policies and international best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with health regulations and vaccination protocols in collaboration with WHO and UNICEF guidelines.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Serve as the key point of contact between the organization, Turkish health authorities, and other stakeholders.
    • Maintain regular communication with both Turkish and Syrian health stakeholders to ensure smooth program implementation and reporting.
  • Language and Communication:
    • Utilize Turkish and English language skills to effectively engage with Turkish health authorities, healthcare workers, and international partners.
    • Translate essential program documents, reports, and communications from Turkish to English and vice versa, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Vaccination and Immunization:
    • Oversee the logistics and operations of vaccination programs, including cold chain management, staff training, and vaccine delivery.
    • Monitor the progress of vaccination campaigns, ensuring high coverage rates and timely reporting of results.
    • Provide technical guidance on vaccination best practices, adverse event monitoring, and community awareness campaigns to boost vaccine uptake.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
    • Ensure accurate collection, analysis, and reporting of program data.
    • Prepare regular progress reports in both Turkish and English for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Travel Requirement:
    • Travel at least 30% of the time to project sites, both within Turkey and Syria, to oversee and support the implementation of health programs.
    • Ensure strong coordination and support to field teams during on-site visits.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in medicine, pharmacy, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in health program management, with a strong focus on vaccination programs.
  • Proficiency in both Turkish and English (written and spoken) is mandatory.
  • In-depth knowledge of vaccination strategies, immunization systems, and cold chain management.
  • Experience in working within health systems in Syria is highly desirable.
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 30% of the time.
