Evidence Uptake and Learning Manager

Sightsavers is an international organisation which works with partners to protect sight and fight for disability rights

Sightsavers is looking for an Evidence Uptake and Learning Manager to help ensure that our programmes are informed by high quality evidence from internal and external sources. This is an exciting new role combining research expertise with project management and communication skills to support strategic learning at a large international NGO.

Salary: £35,000 – 43,000

Location/s: UK remote

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full-time, part-time and flexible working will be considered, ideally at least 4 days a week.

We are looking for an individual with knowledge of research methodologies, a good understanding of the drivers of evidence use, project management experience, and solid communications skills to manage a range of research evidence uptake and learning activities across Sightsavers. The Evidence Uptake and Learning Manager will play a key role in implementing Sightsavers’ research uptake and learning strategy, supporting the strategic use of evidence across the organisation, and ensuring learning informs programme design and amplifies impact.

In this role, you will lead on managing and continuously improving existing mechanisms for the consolidation, storage and sharing of research evidence produced at Sightsavers. Working closely with research and programme colleagues in Africa, Asia, the US and the UK, you will lead on synthesising, summarising, packaging and sharing data and evidence to support the implementation of Sightsavers’ thematic strategies in eye health, education, social inclusion and neglected tropical diseases. You will also contribute innovative ideas about approaches to evidence dissemination beyond the organisation.

Essential

A relevant Master’s degree or experience within a similar position
Knowledge of diverse research methodologies.
Experience using a range of approaches and tools for communicating research to a variety of audiences, and encouraging uptake into decision-making
Ability to think strategically and translate ideas into effective action plans
Strong project management skills
Strong analytical skills
Experience of facilitating meetings, and working in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
Strong written and spoken communication skills
Relationship building skills with internal and external audiences – a highly collaborative approach, and willingness to adopt a ‘customer focus’

Desirable but not essential

Written and spoken French and/or Portuguese
Experience working within International Development/INGO’s
An understanding of one or more of Sightsavers areas of work, including Eye Health, Disability and Inclusion, Education, Neglected Tropical Disease
