The unit of Policy & Advisory is increasing its resources in the thematic priority of Disasters, Climate and Crises and is looking for an Expert in Climate and Disaster Risk Management (60 – 80 %)
beginning 1 April 2024 for a 2-year fixed-term contract.
What you will be doing
- Provide advisory services to the SRC team and Sister National Societies with technical expertise in disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and environmental sustainability
- Provide quality assurance support in project cycle management, in accordance with SRC and IFRC standards
- Promote innovative approaches and contribute to conceptual development in disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and environmental sustainability
- Upon qualification and in close consultation with the present expert: collaborate and engage with the relevant platforms and working groups of the IFRC, the Swiss NGO DRR Platform and the SDC Disaster and Climate Networks.
Your profile
- Master’s degree, preferably in earth sciences (e.g., geography, environmental studies)
- Minimum 5 years working experience in the humanitarian or development sector, in the required thematic topics
- Working experience with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is an asset
- Solid knowledge and understanding of the project cycle management in international cooperation
- Proven skills and experience in providing advisory services to country operations
- Very good communication, intercultural and social skills
- Team player and used to working independently
- Excellent language skills in English, as well as either German or French (min. B2). Spanish and any other language is an asset.
