Field-based position with visits to the headquarters in Geneva
Context & Mission
Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent, international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, people affected by natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion, creed or political affiliation (MSF Charter).
The Flying Health Structure Management intervenes in the field as an implementer for field direct supports, during a fixed period. His/her Terms of References are validated by the RMP and the Referent for Health Structure Management. The Flying Health structure Management brings the constraints, challenges and field reality into HQ, the Medical Adviser brings his/her technical knowledge to jointly support field needs.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Ensure implementation of fundamentals, reinforce minimum standards for different aspects of Health Structure Management (HSM)
- Give a technical support to the field in specific programme activities as a direct implementer and as part of the field team, in line with the medical advisor:
- Provide technical support to improve the consistency of the different flows within the care structure in line with the relevant medical standards (ex IPC)
- Support the structures so that the activities deployed, bed capacity, number and HR qualification are in line with the levels of care and the volume of activities.
- He/she contextualize medical tools, guidelines, policies and bringing on-site technical support or capacity building, in a multidisciplinary approach, including the new Community of practice to improve the way that MSF manage health structure.
- Strengthen the skills and competencies of field teams:
- Hands on training, on-site support, and capacity building for field teams according to identified needs.
- Participate in the capitalization and sharing of field experiences to improve health care practices whenever needed.
Your Profile
Education
- Nursing care degree (registered nurse), midwife degree
- University degree at bachelor’s or master’s level, in hospital management or equivalent
- University degree in Infection Prevention and Control, Public Health, are an asset
Experience
- Required experience of 24 months in hospital management, health care management and / or management of health structures, supervision, and coaching.
- Significant experience in hospital management in low resources settings for MSF or other NGOs
- on a hospital project
- Experience as a coordinator in an MSF field (medical coordinator, project coordinator) is an asset.
Languages
- Fluent French
- Fluent English
- Arabic is an asset

- Ability to analyze medical and structural issues.
- Teaching skills in facilitation, follow up, transfer and evaluation of training workshops
- Personal flexibility relating to travel schedule,
- Ability to work with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural persons,
- Open-minded,
- Good communication skills,
- Ability to teach and listen,
- Ability to carry-on assessments and analysis of the information,
- Diplomacy,
- Ability to formalise written reports on roll-out activities.
Terms of Employment
- Fixed-term contract, until end of 2024
- Full-time, 100% (40h/week)
- Working place : Field-based position with visits to the headquarters in Geneva
- Practical working conditions in the field are in accordance with the MSF OCG volunteer manual.
- Ideal start date: As Soon As Possible
- Gross monthly salary: CHF 5’500.- based on 100%
- Benefits: Health insurance and living expenses in the countries of intervention and at headquarters, paid according to internal regulations.
