Organization Overview
The Way of Hope for Life Organization (WHLO) is a non-profit humanitarian organization established in 2002, dedicated to empowering Afghan communities for a brighter and more sustainable future. WHLO is setting up a new Language Training Center in Istanbul to support Afghan migrants—particularly young women—who have been deprived of formal education.
We believe that language proficiency, especially in widely spoken languages such as German, opens doors to legal and dignified employment opportunities in Europe, especially in Germany and Austria. It also significantly reduces the risk of exploitation and human trafficking. The training center will be open to learners of all nationalities residing in Istanbul.
Position Summary
WHLO is seeking two committed and qualified German Language Teachers to join its educational team. Selected candidates will play a vital role in teaching the German language with a focus on practical skills and communication, while also contributing to the development of innovative teaching strategies and curricula.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality German language instruction tailored to students’ needs and goals
- Focus on building fluency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking German
- Plan, manage, and teach classes in alignment with WHLO’s curriculum and activity schedules
- Develop and apply innovative and student-centered teaching methodologies
- Assess student needs and progress to continuously improve instruction
- Collaborate with program staff to strengthen the overall educational approach
- Prepare regular progress and impact reports for WHLO and its partners
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in German Language, German Literature, or a related field with minimum 3 years of teaching experience; OR
- Master’s degree in Education or a relevant discipline with minimum 3 years of teaching experience
- Proven experience in teaching the German language and educational program planning
- Strong proficiency in the German language (speaking, reading, writing)
- Ability to create inclusive and adaptable teaching methods for diverse learners
- Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
