General mission
The Multi-Task Team (MTT) Team Leader is responsible for assisting the Technical Field Manager in conducting EOD activities in the Area of Intervention and leading a team of EOD Searchers. This involves identifying and clearing Hazardous Areas and assisting with EOD spot tasks. The Team Leader may also be tasked to assist the project in other ways.

Responsibilities

Mission 1: Team Leadership

• Lead the MTT as it conducts mine action operations in the field.
• Ensure that the team deploys on time, safely, and effectively in accordance with SOPs.
• Manage attendance and HR issues, raising any challenges to the line manager.

Mission 2: Equipment management
• Ensure the good preparation, use, and maintenance of EOD equipment.
• Ensure the operational preparedness of equipment and vehicles before field deployments.
• Report any issues promptly up the chain of command and to relevant departments.
• Lead on the logistical planning for field operations.

Mission 2: Field operations planning
• Plan field operations deployment in accordance with donor and operational demands.
• Liaise with community leaders ahead of planning
• Prepare project strategy alongside the Technical Field Manager.

Mission 3: Reporting
• Ensure that that operational activities are promptly and properly reported to the Information Management System in accordance with SOPs.
• Ensure the proper and secure filing of operational data

Mission 4: Training
• Participate pro-actively in all training arranged as part of operational deployments
• Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning.

Mission 5: Flexible deployment
• Be prepared and willing to travel long distances to remote parts of the country and work in physically demanding circumstances.

Contract duration- 1 year
Salary- as per the organization’s salary scale

About You

Education/Certificates

• EOD Level 2 certification within the last seven years desired.

Languages

• Excellent Tigrayan and/or Amharic.
• Spoken and written English is a strong asset.

Experience

• Minimum of five years experience in humanitarian demining
• Work certificate to prove experience
• Good level of English
• Strong computer and IM skills

Skills

• General computer and general training skills advantageous
• Able to handle confidential and sensitive information.
• Able to operate different means of communication (Radio, Satphone, etc).
• Be able to work in a safe manner and as per SOPs.

• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to challenging environments.
• Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
