Humanitarian Support Personnel – Public Health Promotion (PHP)

We are looking for Humanitarian Support Personnel – Public Health Promotion (PHP) to work with national and international staff and partners providing leadership for Public Health Promotion and Community Engagement teams to ensure that women, men and children are involved in managing WASH resources in safe, equitable and culturally appropriate ways to maximise the benefits for their communities.

Our next Humanitarian Support Personnel – Public Health Promotion (PHP) will require;

Essential
• Graduate qualification or equivalent in one of the following, or a related discipline: social sciences, environmental or public health, anthropology or community development
• Substantial overseas experience with recent emergency experience
• Ability to work effectively under stress in emergency situations, in a leadership role.
• Ability to work in a participatory way with communities
• A proven capacity to contribute to multi-disciplinary teams and to work with and influence people from diverse backgrounds
• Strong assessment, analytical and planning skills
• Experience of task managing and performance management of small teams and of budget tracking
• Demonstrable experience in developing and delivering successful capacity building strategies and coaching teams, including the ability to effectively advise and support field staff and partners, using methods such as mentoring, coaching, shadowing, demonstration, accompaniment, training, written advice, verbal advice, research and development.
• Innovative strategic, planning and analytical skills, and experience of planning responses appropriate to context and community and at scale.
• Strong influencing skills especially in dealing with country and regional management teams and advisers/ managers within GHT.
• Ability to work collaboratively, supportively and respectfully with others in multi-cultural teams and strong networking skills with strong commitment to Oxfam and humanitarian values.
• Strong conceptual, analytical and critical thinking.
• Good written and spoken English, second working language French, Arabic or Spanish preferred

Desirable
• Experience of having led or coordinated inter-agency initiatives would be an advantage
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Sound understanding of the importance of gender and participation in programme implementation; sensitive to the needs of displaced and disadvantaged populations.
• Experience of varied approaches to capacity building.
• Ability to work effectively independently with minimal support on research assignments in line with Terms of Reference provided.
