Marketing and Communications Officer

Position Summary
The Marketing and Communications Officer supports the smooth delivery of projects and campaigns within the Marketing and Communications Division at ForAfrika. This role acts as a key link between the Marcoms team and other departments, helping to interpret briefs, coordinate project timelines, and ensure high-quality marketing and communications outputs. The officer will also contribute to the creation and implementation of marketing strategies that support ForAfrika’s mission and amplify its impact across Africa.

Ideal Candidate

You have a background in marketing and communications, with the ability to manage content, coordinate briefs, and support campaign rollouts. You understand the importance of clear, compelling storytelling—especially in the humanitarian and development space—and can turn ideas into action. Whether it’s proofreading internal documents, developing newsletters, supporting design or managing video assets, you enjoy working across a range of projects and collaborating with multiple teams. Key Responsibilities
1.Project Coordination & Internal Liaison
-Act as the main point of contact for marketing and communications requests across ForAfrika’s divisions and country offices.
-Receive and interpret briefs, turning them into actionable workplans and timelines in coordination with Marcoms team members.
-Collaborate with the Marcoms team to ensure briefs are clearly allocated, tracked, and delivered on time.
-Monitor project status, flag bottlenecks, and manage dependencies to ensure smooth internal workflows and alignment.
-Maintain and update shared project management tools (e.g. Monday.com, SharePoint) to coordinate activities and improve team visibility.
-Communicate with relevant country offices or divisional teams to share updates, flag delays, and schedule follow-up discussions when needed, helping to keep all stakeholders informed and aligned throughout the project lifecycle.

2. Marketing and Campaign Support
-Support the execution of integrated marketing and communications plans for both the Humanitarian & Development and Social Enterprise divisions, as well as country-specific initiatives.
-Assist in developing campaign content and marketing materials that respond to programme realities and strategic objectives.
-Provide writing and design support for newsletters, flyers, donor reports, and digital campaigns using platforms such as Canva or Adobe.
-Support internal marketing initiatives and staff-facing announcements and events.
-Contribute to the planning and rollout of digital marketing activities, including social media advertising, boosting posts, and managing paid campaigns.
-Experience with platforms like Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads is advantageous; familiarity with SEO principles is a plus.

3. Editorial and Internal Comms Support
-Edit and proofread internal documents, campaign materials, and donor-facing outputs to ensure accuracy, brand alignment, and clarity.
-Support the development of internal newsletters and updates, gathering stories and highlights from country teams, divisions and affiliates.
-Collaborate with the Marcoms team to shape and distribute regular staff communications that build alignment, engagement, and organisational culture.

4. Content Creation & Asset Management
-Contribute to the creation of multimedia content, including video clips, social media posts, and graphics for internal and external use.
-Assist in coordinating or producing visual assets for campaigns, events, and donor engagement.

5. Innovation & Digital Awareness
-Stay informed of new trends in digital media, content tools, and communication practices that can enhance ForAfrika’s marketing efforts.
-Offer ideas to improve digital engagement, user experience, and campaign effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media, or a related field.
2. At least 3-5 years of professional experience in a marketing or communications role, preferably within a non-profit or development environment.
3. Demonstrated experience in writing, editing, and producing marketing or communication materials for various audiences.
4. Experience managing briefs and coordinating content or campaigns with multiple stakeholders.
5. Familiarity with humanitarian and development sector contexts in Africa is a strong advantage.

Technical Skills
1. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail and tone.
2. Proficiency in digital content creation tools such as Canva, Adobe InDesign, or equivalent platforms.
3. Working knowledge of email marketing tools (e.g. Mailchimp), social media platforms, and basic video editing software.
4. Experience in project coordination, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
5. Knowledge of internal communications, including newsletter and campaign planning.
6. Comfort with cloud-based tools such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Teams.
