Brot für die Welt (BfdW) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) and an agency of the Protestant churches, working together with local partner organizations to promote global justice, peace, and education, and to fight hunger and poverty. The Liaison Office (VEST) of the “South America” department of BfdW in Peru manages projects and supports dialogue and advisory processes aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of Bread for the World’s partner organizations in Peru and Bolivia.

Local partner organizations are facing the challenge of increasingly limited government and international funding. This is where your role as an international professional at the VEST in Peru comes in: You will actively contribute to building and strengthening the capacities of VEST staff and partner organizations in Peru and Bolivia, working jointly to enable partner organizations to increase the visibility and future viability of their important work—through effective public relations and financial sustainability.

The position is located in Lima, Peru. The head of the VEST is responsible for administrative and technical supervision.

Job Scope

In particular, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the development of a financial sustainability plan, including the preparation and submission of third-party funding applications
  • Supporting the development and implementation of a sustainable fundraising plan, including the identification of relevant success factors as well as potential donors and fundraising partners
  • Supporting the introduction and use of software solutions for donation management, including effective fundraising communication and storytelling
  • Jointly developing an impactful communication strategy that incorporates social media, as well as planning and accompanying fundraising campaigns
  • Individual coaching, coordinating mentoring programs, and establishing a peer-learning network to strengthen the fundraising capacities of partner organizations

Your Profile

  • A university degree relevant to the position (e.g., nonprofit management, communications management, marketing, or a comparable field), as well as relevant further training in fundraising and social marketing
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in acquiring third-party funds, fundraising, and communications, ideally with practical experience in storytelling and preferably in a Latin American context
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Spanish and English
  • Experience in facilitating the exchange of knowledge and information with target groups, for example through interactive workshops, trainings, or coaching
  • Creativity, team spirit, and a high level of intercultural sensitivity to support change processes
  • Willingness to travel regularly within Peru and Bolivia

Citizenship of a Member State of the European Union or Switzerland is required.
