Here at AFH Palestine, we are looking for a Projects Officer (Gaza) to join us in Gaza. You will join us on a full-time basis for 6 months in the first instance, and in return you will receive a competitive salary.

The Projects Officer (Gaza) will support the Gaza Office Manager in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of AFH humanitarian and development projects. This role will involve coordinating with stakeholders, assisting in proposal development, project reporting, coordination, supporting partners and ensuring that projects are executed effectively and efficiently to meet the needs of the beneficiaries. This position aims to drive the successful delivery of humanitarian programs, contributing to AFH’s mission to foster resilient, self-sufficient communities in Gaza.
Your objectives as our Projects Officer (Gaza) will include:
- Assist in the planning and implementation of humanitarian projects in Gaza.
- Support the development of project proposals and concept notes.
- Ensure effective project monitoring and reporting.
- Coordinate with local stakeholders, clusters, and communities to support project activities.
Your accountabilities as our Projects Officer (Gaza) will include the following:
Project Implementation:
- Support the Gaza Office Manager in the day-to-day management of projects.
- Assist in preparing project work plans and ensuring they align with organisational goals.
- Monitor project activities and progress, providing regular updates to the Gaza Office Manager**.**
- Ensure that all projects are implemented in full compliance with donor regulations and organisational policies, including timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Support the capacity building of local stakeholders and partners to enhance their ability to implement and sustain project activities, ensuring emergency response leading to long-term impact.
Proposal Development:
- Contribute to the development of project proposals and concept notes, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and donor requirements.
- Collect and analyse data to support project design and proposal development.
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Liaise with local stakeholders, including community leaders and partner organisations, to facilitate project activities.
- Ensure effective communication with beneficiaries and address any issues or concerns promptly.
- Attend and actively participate in the UN cluster meetings as requested.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of project outcomes and impact.
- Prepare regular project reports, including progress updates and to help with the financial reports, as required.
- Ensure all project activities comply with Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS), focusing on accountability, transparency, and safeguarding. Establish feedback mechanisms to engage beneficiaries and incorporate their insights into project improvements.
- Commit to continuous professional development, staying updated on the latest humanitarian practices, tools, and approaches to improve the quality of project delivery.
Communication and External Relations:
- Support the Gaza Office Manager in representing the organisation in local meetings and forums.
- Communicate project objectives and outcomes to stakeholders and beneficiaries as requested.
Policy and Procedures:
- Follow organisational policies and procedures related to project implementation.
- Provide feedback on policies and procedures to improve project efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure all project activities uphold the organization’s safeguarding and protection policies, promoting a safe and inclusive environment for beneficiaries, staff, and stakeholders. Report any safeguarding concerns promptly in line with AFH’s policies
What we are looking for in our Projects Officer (Gaza):
Education
- Degree (or equivalent) in relevant field i.e., International Development, International Relations, Public Relations, Economics, Politics, etc
- Evidence of sector-specific continuous professional development.
Experience
- 3 years experience in project management or implementation within the humanitarian sector.
- At least 3 years of technical experience in one of the humanitarian sectors :WASH, Shelter and Settlement, Camp Management, Education, Protection, Health, Food Security and Nutrition, or Livelihoods.
- Experience in proposals writing
- Knowledge of project monitoring and evaluation techniques.
Risk management: Experience in identifying and mitigating risks in a conflict-sensitive manner

- Strong organisational and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills: Ability to respond rapidly to emerging issues during project implementation.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software.
Languages
- Strong written and spoken English
- Strong written and spoken Arabic
