SENIOR DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT – WEST COAST

JOB SUMMARY

CARE is seeking a dynamic, results-driven Senior Director to lead new corporate fundraising efforts with companies headquartered on the West Coast. This senior leader will play a critical role in expanding CARE’s private sector engagement by developing high-impact partnerships that drive revenue, innovation, and influence, and be a valued member of CARE’s Corporate New Business team.

This role is instrumental in advancing CARE’s mission by unlocking new revenue streams, building meaningful corporate alliances, and positioning CARE as a trusted partner in tackling global poverty and injustice.

Responsibilities

Build and Grow Strategic Partnerships

  • The Senior Director will expand and deepen a portfolio of CARE’s corporate partnerships. Working with both existing partners and leading business growth on the West Coast. Portfolio goals will include raising $2 – $3 million in revenue annually and growing that amount; multiplying impact through partnerships that innovate and drive scale; and expanding CARE’s influence through cause marketing, employee engagement and joint advocacy.
  • The SDoD will expected understand the business drivers for corporate support. They will be charged with leveraging corporate partners’ core business, employee talent, consumer base and brand to further CARE’s goals. They will be responsible for setting tailored strategies for each partnership and collaborating with internal stakeholders to maximize value across a range of asset. This includes managing the full partnership lifecycle: outreach, strategy development, negotiation, execution, and long-term stewardship.

Catalyze Innovation with the Tech Sector

  • The Senior Director will manage a portfolio of corporate partners with a strong focus on innovation and technology. This role will identify and activate partnerships that align with CARE’s innovation priorities, helping scale solutions that address complex global challenges, and should have confidence/experience pitching digital impact strategies and opportunities.
  • The DoD will work closely with CARE program colleagues – both in the U.S. and in our country offices to ensure CARE has a solid portfolio of offerings and is well represented in networks and meetings relevant to CARE’s programmatic interests.

Serve as a Regional Ambassador for CARE

  • The Senior Director should expect to develop an external presence for CARE on the West Coast. This includes regularly attending corporate convenings and industry events, speaking about CARE at corporate offices, supporting employee engagement, hosting corporate cultivation events, serving as the liaison when program leads/CARE executive staff are visiting the West Coast, etc.
  • In addition, this role will be expected to develop compelling partnership concept notes, pitch decks and other externally facing materials. This role will also effectively position and feature partners in their portfolio for external recognition.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fundraising, proposal development or resource mobilization experience at an international non-profit
  • Ability to translate complex technical terms to compelling fundraising opportunities.
  • Team-player, caring and fun human.
  • Respect, integrity, diversity, excellence, planning & organizing, communicating with impact, building commitment, information management, collaboration, initiating action, negotiation, coaching, developing teams, facilitating change, innovation, managing performance, strategic decision making, and political acumen.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, international development, public administration or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years in nonprofit corporate fundraising or aligned business development experience, including partnership solicitation and management, cause marketing, proposal development, and donor stewardship.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, organize time, manage diverse activities, and use existing technology to achieve desired results
  • Proven success in maximizing donor potential, conversant in CSR and program impact, ability to identify and develop multi-year donor cultivation plans, knowledge of fundraising technology, ability to strategize, submit and close 6 & 7 figure gifts, and strong communication skills.
