Job description
At the Climate Justice unit we support the most vulnerable movements, partners and activists to cope with the climate crisis and voice their demands. We develop global influencing and campaigning strategies on climate justice together with Oxfam’s, allies, and partners.
This role works with partners and across Oxfam to co-develop campaigns, influencing strategies and funding proposals which link local to global. The role actively works with partners and country offices to ensure implementation of multi country programmes and grants, specifically MoFa funded ‘Power of Voices: Fair for All’ and ‘Power of Voices: African Activists for Climate Justice’ and the NPL funded program ‘Tipping Point’, that supports young climate activists across the globe.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced knowledge broker and influencing advisor. You support the co-creation of influencing strategies together with climate justice movements and activists and play a central convening and brokering role for knowledge and learning. You will work with an innovative digital platform where young activists from across the globe can meet, learn and plan activities. And you work with movement building funds across different projects.
Key responsibilities
- Animate a peer-to-peer learning network among movements and activists in the project (and beyond) amongst others via a digital platform, and lead and co-create spaces for learning exchange and knowledge reflection.
- Collaboratively produce and contribute to the production and dissemination of information, learning, and communications products for the donor and for stakeholders
- Support the building of strategic relationships with climate movements through supporting the development of their campaigns, influencing and movement building strategies. And support youth movements, especially in the global south, in their organizing in a way that makes them aware of and build their power.
- Lead, contribute to, and co-create the development of influencing strategies, together with the key stakeholders on climate justice with others in Oxfam.
- Ensure synergies between the different programs and projects implemented through Oxfam’s climate justice strategy. Lead on developing and identifying local-to-global strategies and contribute to cross country learning.
- Drives innovation in terms of new approaches and ways of working while building this ‘bottom-up’ together with stakeholders.
- Initiates and works together within Oxfam and with country offices on the development of new projects and programs that could be funded by back donors and ensure quality delivery of agreed outcomes with existing back donors.
Who are we looking for?
Are you an experienced influencer (2-5 years’ experience) with a passion for making a real difference in the world? Do you have a keen interest in supporting (young) climate activists in their struggle for climate justice? And do you have relevant experience in working with and supporting movements and activists and have a vision on how movement building and learning can help strengthen the climate justice movement. Qualifications and experience
- Master’s degree in a relevant field required; a good knowledge of the (international) climate justice debates is an asset.
- You understand campaigning and influencing, movement building and activism at national and global level and how they link; you have relevant experience in working with and supporting movements and activists and have a vision on how movement building can help strengthen the climate justice movement. Experience of working with feminist movements or feminist organising can be an asset.
- You have good communication skills, both verbal and written and experience of producing written products and online communications for diverse audiences.
- You have a well-developed ability to plan, develop and facilitate learning initiatives and proven people management skills, with experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams, supporting and coaching individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and you have a strong understanding of feminist approaches, gender and how to mainstream gender in a knowledge and learning approach.
- You have experience in raising funds from international donor agencies and you can demonstrate experience in working on complex international projects/programs.
- You have a willingness to travel regularly.
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written; ability to work in French, Portuguese or Spanish can be an asset.

Moreover, we offer complementary options to choose from. The salary range for this position is set in scale 10 with a salary range between €3.469,- and €5.339,- gross based on 36 hours a week.
