JOB SUMMARY

The Technical Health and Nutrition Coordinator will lead and manage health and nutrition programs, providing technical expertise and oversight to ensure high-quality service delivery. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and monitoring nutrition and health interventions, ensuring alignment with global standards and local needs. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in public health, nutrition, and managing multi-disciplinary teams in challenging settings. This position requires close coordination with health authorities, NGOs, and international agencies, and the ability to manage complex health and nutrition programs in humanitarian contexts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development and Technical Leadership:
    • Lead the design and development of health and nutrition programs that align with organizational goals and donor requirements.
    • Provide technical guidance on health and nutrition programming, including maternal and child health, immunization, and nutrition initiatives.
    • Ensure that programs follow international best practices and standards (e.g., Sphere, WHO, UNICEF).
  • Program Implementation:
    • Oversee the implementation of health and nutrition projects, ensuring effective service delivery and operational efficiency.
    • Work closely with field teams to ensure that nutrition programs, including screening, supplementary feeding, and Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices, are delivered appropriately.
    • Develop and implement technical plans to track program performance and impact.
  • Technical Support and Capacity Building:
    • Provide ongoing technical support to field teams, health workers, and local partners to improve the quality of health and nutrition services.
    • Conduct training sessions for staff on health and nutrition protocols, including malnutrition management, maternal health, and outbreak response.
    • Strengthen local capacity in health and nutrition through the development of training materials and mentoring of health workers.
  • Coordination and Partnership Management:
    • Act as the primary liaison between the organization and health and nutrition stakeholders, including Health directorates, UN agencies, and local NGOs.
    • Represent the organization in cluster meetings and technical working groups to coordinate efforts and share best practices in health and nutrition.
    • Foster relationships with donors, partners, and government authorities to ensure the smooth implementation of programs.
  • Data Collection, Reporting, and Analysis:
    • Ensure the timely and accurate collection of health and nutrition data from program sites, and analyze the data to inform program decisions.
    • Prepare and submit high-quality reports to donors, stakeholders, and internal leadership, demonstrating program progress and impact.
    • Use data to identify gaps and develop recommendations for improving health and nutrition services.
  • Emergency Response:
    • Support the organization’s emergency health and nutrition response efforts, including rapid assessments and the establishment of emergency health services.
    • Lead efforts to scale up nutrition interventions in response to humanitarian crises, including the management of acute malnutrition and disease outbreaks.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Nutrition, Medicine, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing health and nutrition programs, particularly in humanitarian settings.
  • Strong technical knowledge of nutrition interventions, including Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), supplementary feeding programs, and malnutrition treatment.
  • Proven experience working with national health authorities, international agencies, and NGOs in implementing health and nutrition projects.
  • Experience in conducting health and nutrition assessments and designing response plans.
  • Excellent organizational, management, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in [Arabic, English]. Turkish preferred
