Accounts Coordinator

Objective of the position:

Leading the accounts department and evaluating and developing the accounting and documentary cycle and current financial procedures.

Responsible for implementing the accounts department policies and procedures, periodic review with Operations Manager, and submission of annual final reports (balance sheet, income statement), in accordance with international standards.

The accounts coordinator shall be responsible for supervising the performance of the accounts department in all its functions to ensure achieving management objectives.

Key responsibilities:

  2. Draw up financial reports and organize financial procedures, documentation, and verification of supporting documents.
  3. Liaise with HR and logistic departments, banks, and relevant project staff to ensure all expenditures, payments of payrolls and cash disbursements are in line with organization’s financial procedures.
  4. Ensure timely and accurate payments of staff and vendors.
  5. Ensure expenditures with respect to the approved budget.
  6. Ensure that all financial activities and cash flows are in line with international standards, government requirements and donor requirements.
  7. Managing cash management, budgeting, forecasting, troubleshooting, accounting and financial procedures and donor requirements.
  8. Ensure transparent financial procedures when fulfilling objectives of the organization and donors’ guidelines.
  9. Ensure all financial documents and files are accurate and submitted within deadlines.
  10. Control receipts, invoices, and financial documents to justify payments.
  11. Conduct monthly – yearly accountancy closure, advance closing, and bank reconciliation.
  12. Provide support, information, advice, and guidance to other departments as to financial policies and procedures.
  13. Participate in preparation and review of internal and external financial reports for submission.
  14. Facilitate preparation of internal and external audits.
  15. Monitor admin costs and expenditures to support financial budgets and projections.
  16. Any other work-related duty assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Finance, Business Management, Economics and other closely relevant field.
  • Excellent working knowledge of English (speaking and writing).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Financing and accounting management at humanitarian systems.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Accountant software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office software
  • Experience with multi-currencies.

Able to manage own work and resources in a way that meets time bound objectives
