Business Development Director

About Us:

Global Rights Compliance (GRC) is an international legal foundation focused on atrocity-crime accountability. Drawing on decades of experience in conflict-affected areas and transitional justice environments our “root and branch” philosophy combines innovative full-spectrum accountability strategies, building the capacity of States to implement international humanitarian and human rights standards, bespoke expertise in evidence gathering in conflict settings and assisting communities to seek remedies for violations. We have a registered presence in the Netherlands, the UK and Ukraine and projects around the globe.

GRC is looking for a Director of Business Development to lead GRC in its next phase of growth.

Duty Station: Remote
Contract Duration: 12 months with probable extension

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Partners and GRC’s leads, design and implement a 12- 24 month strategy to build sustainable growth;
  • Track “predicted/open solicitations” feeds of all the major donors (USAID, DRL, EC FPS, EC RelEx, MFA/NL, MaTra, UKAid, SIDA, CIDA, AusAID, etc.) to identify opportunities of interest to GRC;
  • Identify philanthropic donors with interest in justice and human rights for grant submission;
  • Introduce GRC to local and international partners in target countries;
  • Attend events and meetings to identify upcoming opportunities and government donor priorities;
  • Together with partners and team leads, identify solicitations to which we will respond;
  • Work with team leads to decide on activities, partners and produce grant proposals (narratives, budgets);
  • Lead proposal drafting process, including technical responses, logic models and monitoring and evaluation charts;
  • Draft cost proposal with advice from finance director;
  • Ensure proposals are submitted to donors in a timely manner and in compliance with procurement documents;
  • Manage grant negotiation process until contract is signed;
  • Maintains contact with donors to ensure seamless cooperation and assist project lead with grant extension negotiations/application.
  • Help with recruitments on bids and projects.

Qualifications and Background:

Mandatory:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in international development;
  • Undergraduate/graduate degree in relevant field (or a bachelor’s with an additional 2 years of experience);
  • Demonstrated experience writing winning proposals;
  • Knowledge of donors including US State Dept, USAID UK FCDO and EU.

Desirable:

  • Experience working on civil society / democracy / good governance / justice / human rights projects;
  • Language skills (Ukrainian, Arabic, French, Spanish).
