Chief of Party
Save the Children seeks a Chief of Party (COP) for an anticipated five-year USAID-funded Civil Society Strengthening Activity in Uganda. The COP will provide overall leadership and oversight for the activity which seeks to fortify the capacity of Ugandan civil society organizations (CSOs) to influence and contribute to improved development outcomes in targeted sectors, successfully promote public education and civic engagement, and to establish and manage public accountability mechanisms. The COP is responsible for the overall management and representation of the program and is ultimately accountable for the delivery of desired program results.
To be successful for this role, you will have/bring the following:
A Master’s degree in political science, public administration, international relations, organizational development, or in a relevant field, or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field combined with seven (7) years of experience in addition to the 10 years specified belowA minimum of 10 years of experience managing development partner-funded and/or other development programs related to civil society with demonstrated experience leading teams to achieve development results.
Experience in East Africa or regions at similar stages of economic development.Substantial knowledge of civil society organizational development strategies, including strong successful experience in successful organizational development approaches.
Substantial experience advancing civil society development in politically sensitive environments in which political space is closing.Demonstrated leadership and management skills related to activity management, including activity planning and performance management, motivating and supervising team efforts, and financial and personnel management.
Demonstrated effectiveness in developing and maintaining professional relationships with host country counterparts in government, civil society and the private sector.Ability and willingness to travel frequently.
Excellent written communication and presentation skills in English; proficiency in Swahili or Luganda preferred.*
