Position Description

Purpose of the Position:

Managing the day-to-day activities of UNICC’s communications team. Objectives include: developing internal and external communications, designing advocacy and marketing strategies, and furthering strategic partnerships and resource mobilization initiatives. Broadly working to promote the visibility of UNICC within the UN system, with Member States, and with other strategic and prospective partners.

Objectives of the Programme:

The objective of the Centre is to provide trusted ICT services and digital business solutions to its Clients and Partner Organizations.

Main duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Head, Outreach and Strategic Partnerships (MSO) within the Management and Strategy Division (MS) and in close collaboration with the Communications and Outreach teams. The incumbent could be requested to do any others tasks of similar level in related fields.

  • Support the development and implementation of communications strategies, thinking proactively about brand management, strengthening existing communications products and tailoring outputs to key stakeholder groups
  • Ensure that all content (incl. messaging and images) aligns with UNICC values and drives forward the organization’s strategic priorities
  • Design communication that resonate with key stakeholders, increasing brand awareness, visibility and engagement across multiple channels
  • Create engaging content and coordinate content delivery across multiple channels (incl. but not limited to reports, articles, blog posts, social media, website copy, videos, and interactive multimedia)
  • Develop and maintain the editorial / content calendar and ensure timely and organized content delivery
  • Support the Head, MSO and senior management including the UNICC Director with their communications needs, as requested, ensuring technical accuracy and sharp messaging
  • Organize and advise on press engagement, interviews, and media events, when appropriate
  • In consultation with the Head, MSO, determine day-to-day team priorities, delegate responsibilities and implement work plans, promoting collaboration and teamwork
  • Other: Provide other ad hoc support either within the team or in other teams as required – this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-time or full time basis upon request from the senior management

Recruitment Profile

Experience and Skills required:

Essential:

  • At least five (5) years of experience in communications roles in similar fields, such as international affairs, international development, tech or digital economy
  • Sound experience as a content creator
  • “All-hands-on-deck” mentality, eager to think through high-level communications strategy and also keen to draft engaging LinkedIn posts

Desirable:

  • UN experience is an advantage
  • Digital technology experience is an advantage

Education*:

Essential:

  • First university degree in communications, marketing, or a related discipline

Desirable:

  • Advanced university degree in communications, marketing, or a related discipline

Languages:

  • English: Expert knowledge is required
  • Good knowledge of Spanish or French is desirable

Other Information

Compensation:

Annual Salary Estimation (net of tax at single rate):

  • Brindisi (Italy), including post adjustment (29,8% on July 2023): US$ 81,374.
  • Valencia (Spain), including post adjustment (34,0% on July 2023): US$ 84,007.

UNICC also offers generous leave and absence allowances, flexible working hours, overtime compensation, teleworking, access to training, and depending on eligibility other benefits such as relocation grant, dependency allowance, language allowance, or education grant.
