Freelance Production Manager

1. Background

BBC Media Action North Africa is seeking the services of a skilled and experienced Freelance Production Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of media content projects.

The Production Manager will ensure high standards of editorial compliance, manage production budgets, and provide timely, accurate project reporting.

2. Objectives

To provide professional production management services that ensure:

• Effective planning and scheduling of media content production.
• Editorially compliant and high-quality content delivery.
• Budget management and cost-effective production.
• Timely and accurate reporting of project progress and outcomes.

3. Scope of Work

The Freelance Production Manager will be responsible for the following:

A. Production Planning & Management

• Develop and oversee detailed production schedules and workflows.
• Coordinate and lead pre-production activities and scheduling.
• Liaise with creative freelance producers to ensure clarity of vision and deliverables.
• Ensure adherence to project timelines and resolve production-related challenges proactively.

B. Content Oversight

• Ensure all produced content complies with editorial standards and aligns with the intended project’s objectives.
• Oversee quality control of production outputs including rough cuts, final edits, and deliverables.
• Provide creative input where necessary to enhance storytelling and production value.

C. Budget and Resource Management

• Prepare, track, and manage production budgets.
• Ensure cost-efficiency in resource allocation.
• Approve expenditures and maintain updated commitment logs.

D. Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare regular project updates and final reports detailing timelines, challenges, outcomes, and budget status.
• Maintain and managerelevant production budgets and producing accurate, timely, professional project reports in English.

4. Deliverables

• Approved production schedule and budget.
• Regular (e.g., bi-weekly/monthly) production status reports.
• Final content deliverables meeting quality and editorial standards.
• Final project report including budget reconciliation and evaluation.

5. Reporting Line

The Freelance Production Manager will report to the Country Director and will work closely with the Finance and Operations Team.

6. Qualifications

• Proven experience in media production management (minimum 5 years).
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex production workflows and multiple stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of editorial standards and compliance.
• Excellent budget management and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in project management tools and software.
• Excellent communication skills in English and native Arabic speaking.
