Humanitarian Programme Manager

Islamic Relief is a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), we have Consultative Status with the UN Economic and Social Council, and we are a signatory to the Code of Conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

Our international Programme division is currently recruiting for the position of a Humanitarian Programme Manager. The Humanitarian Programme Manager would be responsibile to provide technical and operational support during provision of emergency assistance in the event of any disasters/conflicts in Afghanistan transitioning towards Sustainable Development and stability/social cohesion with particular emphasis to promote triple nexus.

The Successful candidate must have or be;

  • Postgraduate degree in Development Studies/ Social Sciences
  • Substantial experience in management role to lead humanitarian preparedness, response and recovery programs in INGOs/UN in highly complex environments.
  • Demonstrated experience of working in complex and conflict emergencies and leading large and diverse teams.
  • An Excellent understanding of the emergency preparedness and response and experience of leading large and complex emergencies.
  • Experience of working for international organizations in leading large and complex emergencies.
  • Understanding and experience of emergency preparedness, and response using triple nexus approach.
  • Knowledge and application of Sphere Standards, Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) and other guiding principles during interaction with Disaster affected communities.
  • A strong experience of programme operations, i.e., logistics, HR and adherence to internal controls in emergency programming.
