JOB TITLE: IT Operations Associate G6 (Infrastructure)

DURATION: 12 Months

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

Under the direct supervision of the Head of TEC and the Foundational ICT Lead, the job holder will support the management and maintenance of the IT infrastructure and will have an active role in the IT operations activities of the WFP country office in Haiti. S/he will also manage the IT assets inventory and registration and purchase orders of IT equipment.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the deployment/broadcast of standard equipment, such as VHF radios, DMR repeaters, portable radios, Iridium PTT devices, etc.
  • Install, operate and maintain telecommunications systems and equipment to optimize services and in accordance with applicable standard operating procedures.
  • Provide standard and interoperable telecommunications platforms and procedures to avoid duplication and ensure cost-effective services.
  • Perform system and equipment maintenance tasks, such as backing up configurations, system data, and system protection, to ensure they operate efficiently and allow for easy and efficient use.
  • Ensure the implementation of the provisions relating to securing the system and cybersecurity by ensuring that the system is up to date, that the controls relating to data security and access are in place and maintained.
  • Assign tasks to other colleagues under his/her supervision, ensuring that the work is carried out within agreed standards and deadlines, in order to contribute to efficient service delivery.
  • Participate in the deployment of new technological solution for servers, networks by updating the inventory of network systems and licenses.
  • Manage the operation and maintenance of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN) and telecommunications systems.
  • Integrate IT and TC systems and provide data security and access controls considering local and widespread network issues in the region;
  • Suggest improvements to methods and processes to contribute to the continuous improvement of telecommunications services
  • Manage the invoice payment process in WINGS from the creation of the

PO/SES/GRN until the submission of the payment request to finance  Create PRs and MPOs for the TEC unit.

  • Prepare “Purchase Request” (PR) for the purchase of equipment and TEC services (Internet Services and Telephony service.
  • Create SES at the end of each month (for IPSAS compliance).
  • Follow up on materials after recording in GEMS and liaise with the Procurement unit for questions relating to invoices to be paid.
  • Maintain a filing system for these files for better monitoring within the TEC unit.
  • At the request of other units such as: Management, Supply Chain and others, I ensure the creation of PR / MPO as well as SES / GRN.
  • Actively participate in the annual exercise of the Physical Inventory of office equipment from the new GEMS Mobile system.
  • Focal point inventor task force.
  • Perform all other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in a related functional area such as Computer Sciences, IT Engineering, Mathematics/Physics, is an asset

Experience: 

Has experience analyzing service management results and development service enhancement recommendations.

Has participated in business process re-engineering efforts and identified service management improvements.

Has experience participating in country office procurement/budgeting process.

Knowledge 

& Skills: 

Good general IT skills and a deep understanding of IT Security

Good knowledge of Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs);

Experience in IT Operations environments, preferably in large international organizations.

Good interpersonal skills.

Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment, and good customer service orientation

Familiarity with WFP IT standards and policies would be an asset.

Previous experience in emergencies would be an asset.

Languages: 

Fluency in English is essential; working knowledge of French and Kreyol would be an asset.
