Kenya – Floods (CatNat, media, NOAA-CPC) (ECHO Daily Flash of 26 March 2024)

  • Heavy rainfall has affected Kenya, in particular Nairobi City on 24-25 March, causing floods that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • Media report, as of 26 March, at least ten fatalities, several missing people, 52 households have been displaced and at least 1,180 people have been affected by floods in Nairobi City, with Mukuru Kwa Njenga and Mukuru Kwa Reuben areas, eastern Nairobi City as the most affected. In addition, many roads have been flooded and a highway has been temporarily closed.
  • Over the next 48 hours, more rainfall is forecast over the whole country.
