For Yokadouma site, we are looking for a “Technical Advisor” for the project (CIBEL) – Dynamic and engaged Jengi TRIDOM Landscape.
Supervision: Program Manager Jengi TRIDOM
Supervises: Biologist, Field Assistant
Location: Yokadouma, Eastern Region, Cameroon (with frequent displacements in the landscape Jengi TRIDOM)
Duration: Contract of two (02) years renewable
Mission of the department
Ensure the implementation of the Jengi-TRIDOM programme to the highest standards, consistent with WWF Cameroon’s conservation strategy.
Main functions
The “Technical Advisor” (TA) provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure that all project outcomes related to:
- Sustainable cocoa production.
- Community forest management (CFM).
- Cooperative organizations.
- Value chains of non-wood forest products (NLFPs).
- Facilitating multi-stakeholder platforms.
- Benefit-sharing mechanisms and market linkages.
- Wildlife biomonitoring in protected areas.
The TA supports the Program Manager in planning, implementing, monitoring and coordinating with partners to achieve WWF’s conservation and community livelihoods goals in the Jengi TRIDOM landscape.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Planning and coordination
- Lead the annual and quarterly planning of cocoa, CFM/CoFM, PFNL, governance and biomonitoring components.
- Technical implementation and quality
- Supervise the implementation of sustainable cocoa interventions (good agricultural practices, agroforestry, certification).
- Provide technical support for community and communal forests (management plans, timber legality, distribution of benefits).
- Develop and implement NFP management protocols (quotas, transformation, market access).
- Coordinate biomonitoring with appropriate science protocols, data validation, and adaptive management of protected areas.
- Capacity building
- Provide training for producer groups, community forest councils and community forestry units (governance, finance, conflict management).
- Strengthen multi-stakeholder platforms to foster transparency and collaborative governance.
- Monitoring, evaluation and reporting
- Follow key performance indicators (KPIs); ensure data quality according to the WWF accountability framework.
- Write the technical sections of donor reports, success stories, and capitalization products.
- Support audits, interim and final evaluations.
- Resource Mobilization
- Contribute to the development of concept notes/proposals to expand successful pilot approaches (agroforestry, NLP, governance).
- Promote innovative tools (drones, mobile applications) to improve forest monitoring and services for producers.
- Safeguards and risk management
- Ensure compliance with the Environmental and Social Safeguards Framework (ESSF) and Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) procedures.
- Identify risks (e.g. human-wildlife conflicts, social grievances) and propose mitigation measures.
Profile
Required qualifications
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in forestry, natural resource management, agroforestry, conservation biology, rural development or related field.
- Minimum of four (04) years of experience in landscape conservation or rural development, including at least 1 year in a technical or management position.
- Proven experience in sustainable cocoa, community/communal forestry, PFNL value chains and biomonitoring.
- Good knowledge of the Cameroonian legislative framework (forest, land, decentralization).
- Familiarity with donor-funded projects and their reporting requirements.
Required skills and abilities
- Project management proficiency (PMD Pro or equivalent), budgeting and results-based reporting.
- Ability to use biomonitoring tools (SMART, CyberTracker, GIS, photo traps, etc.) and data analysis
- Excellent ability to facilitate training and build the capacity of multicultural teams and Indigenous peoples.
- Fluency in spoken and written French; functional level in English required; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
- Integrity, adaptability and strong commitment to the WWF mission of “living in harmony with nature”.
- Excellent ability to network and maintain strong relationships with various actors: local communities, authorities, NGOs, scientists, donors.

Working relationships:
Internal: Reports to the Programme Manager; works with WWF thematic leaders and regional and global advisors.
External: Coordination with regulatory ministries (MINFOF, MINADER, MINEPDED), local authorities, private companies, CSOs, research institutes and technical and financial partners.
